Hi,

When you connect your iPhone to the PC that you always sync with, Go to Info tab, Check the box Sync Contacts with: and select Outlook. Then make sure that you check the box Put new contacts created on this phone into the group: and select a subfolder in your main contacts folder.

This way, all the contacts from your iPhone will be saved into another folder in your main contacts folder of your Outlook PST.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks
Sandeep

In iTunes, I do not have a box that says "Put new contacts created on this phone into the group: and select a subfolder in your main contacts folder." There is one that says "Add contacts created outside of groups on this iPhone to . . .", but iTunes won't let me check it.

I had my iphone synced with a drive that crashed. When I installed a new drive and tried to sync with itunes, the message said since my phone was synced with a different library, shycing would erase all my data on the phone and repace it with the PC data. My PC doesn't have any contacts...they were lost with the drive crash. How do I get synced with this new drive without losing al my data on the phone?

I want to copy my sim contacts on my apple i phone 3 g, but am unable to do so... i went to setting from their i imported the sim contacts but that is also not functioning.. it imports but in contacts...

Hi there,
This type of errors occur when you jailbreak your set, if you want to copy your contacts from the sim try with another Sim in your phone, if it gives error with all Sims, then you can copy your contacts in the Outlook and then synchronize your contacts with iPhone,
To copy your contacts to outlook, take any nokia phone capable of connecting with usb to computer and nokia pc suite, make your contacts syncronize with outlook firstly from nokia,
when you got your contacts in outlook , connect your iphone 3g with computer, and itunes will show you your set, then go to info and sync contacts with outlook, click on apply and then sync, all of your contacts will be sync and you will see the contacts in iphone,
If you require more assistance regarding this, feel free to reply to this post

Only want to sync selected contacts from outlook

You will have to move those certain categorized contacts to a new contacts folder in OutlookI. So i outlook create another contacts folder go to the folder tab and right click and select new folder - name it what every you like eg." iPhone Contacts" Copy or move all the contacts you have in outlook that you what to sync with your iphone to that new folder.
In itunes make sure your iphone is connected and then select your device on the left hand panel then select the the info tab at the top make sure sync contacts with: Outlook is selected and then choose Selected groups and tick the new folder you just created in outlook.
Just below that also tick Put new contacts created on this iPhone into group: and the select the group that you want to go in - most likely you will want it to go into the same one (folder)

How to transfer Contacts in iPhone to Outlook

Once your iPhone is connected to your PC and iTunes is loaded you can right click on your iPhone and select exactly what you want to have sync'd.
1. Under the Info tab you will find Contacts. 2. Tick the "Sync contacts with :" and select Outlook from the list. 3. Click "All contacts"
If you wish to put all of your iPhone created contacts into a different group in Outlook you can select the group there also and tick the relevant box.
iTunes always displays a warning about over writing data but that is not relevant to Contacts. Data is always merged.
I hope this solves your problem.

How do I synch outlook 2003 with iphone

You didn't say whether you're trying to sync everything (mail, calendars, contacts) or just some things or one thing (like contacts only). I don't know if you're using an Exchange server or even if you have the info you'll need to sync with an Exchange server.

I have a Windows mobile device (AT&T Tilt) running Outlook 2007 and everything is sync'd. We also started purchasing the iphone for our employees and sync their email, calendar and contacts to their phone.

I could probably give you step-by-step information (based on how I do this for my users at work) if I knew whether you'll use iTunes to do this or Exchange Active Sync and what you want to sync between your phone and outlook. One method (iTunes) will only update your data between Otulook and the phone when you connect it to the computer with Outlook configured on it but, the way we do it at work, they receive email, data, changes, etc in real time.

Try using this link http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/mail/

What you will find here is support topics and instructions for Exchange Active Sync, setting up email accounts, troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing.

You can also search support on Apple's Web site. Entering the keywords: iphone outlook 2003 will bring up a lot of support info.

You can use iTunes or MobileMe for synchronization. If using iTunes then try this:

You can configure which items are synchronized during a one time set up process. After initial set up, each time you connect the iphone to your computer, the changes made on your computer or device are synchronized.

  1. Connect your iPhone to your computer. iTunes should open automatically.
  2. In iTunes, in the source list, under Devices, click the entry for your iPhone.
  3. Click the Info tab.
  4. Select which items you would like to sync. For example to sync only calendars, under Calendars, you would click Sync calendars from, and then click Outlook.
  5. Do one of the following:
  • To synch all calendars, click All Calendars.
  • To limit the calendars that are synched, click Selected calendars and then click the calendars you want to sync.
6. Click Apply.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for using Fixya and you can let me know how helpful I've been by rating this solution.

Try using MobileMe. It will sync your Outlook Contacts and Calendar but not your email wirelessly. You'll have to setup some sort of IMAP or Exchange server to sync your email.
