Zoom error comes up on LCD screen when trying to take picture....

I had this error and did two things to fix it and am not really sure which worked, or it may have been both:
1) Charge your batteries or replace with high power (2700) type
2)Is there a bit of dirt stuck between the zoom bit and the body?

With my S1000fd, if I press the on/off while holding the zoom bit so it cannot come out fully, I get the "zoom error" message.

Hope this helps.

Cyber-shot w50 zoom problems

If this error message appears, turn off the camera and remove the batteries for 30 seconds. Afterwards, reinsert the batteries and turn the camera back on. Perform a manual reset of the camera. Once you perform this it will be back to factory settings and you will lose any pictures stored on your camera.
