Toshiba/ 42H81 / hyper board

You can either yrplace your Hyper board, or replace all the serfice mount capacitors in it. The cap replacement fixes this 90% of the time.

Vibrating lines across top 1/3rd of tv when turned on

Your problem is the hyper board, or whats also called the scan board, not the video board. This board is right behind the input board in the back of the TV set. This is a little tricky taking this board out. There are a few tabs that hold the shielding for the onto the printed circuit board, and if your not careful, you can seriously damage the main board. If you get this hyper board out of the set, go to ptscorp.com, call them and give them the number on the shield and they will tell you if they can overhaul this board. Most of these they can and the cost is about 135 to 150 bucks. A new board, if you can find one, cost about 350 bucks or so. Just be very careful un-soldering the metal tabs at the bottom of the circuit board directly underneath the hyper board. The board itself simply plugs into the main board, but like I said before, it is held into the main board by metal tabs underneath it. Good Luck

Rolling horizontal lines on 62" Mitsubishi

That problem is caused by failed Capacitors on the signal and FMT power boards. which is a very common problem for mitsubishi TVs. There are repair kits available for the V26 dlp which contain the capacitors and instructions on how to do the repair. Heres a link check under the repair kits category.

Removing the hyper board

I ordered a Next HYPER Board, PD0264A (as seen in the service manual). I ordered it from Vance Baldwin Electronics (vancebladwin.com) The only part available is a substitute, PN 23148017 MODULE, SCAN CONVERTER. The cost was 219.50. It was backordered so it did not arrive for almost 3 months. Install is a little tricky. It is accessed from the back. You need to remove the input board, the video processor, and some brackets to get to the Hyper board. The hard part is putting the TV on either its front or back (much eaiser if its laying on the screen, although more dangerous) and then desoldering for tabs that go through the signal board. There is a lot of solder on these and two of them have been twisted for some pain in the **** reason. They are difficult to twist back without damaging anything. When it is desoldered and twisted back, the board should come out. Be careful not to crack the signal board when pulling this out as I did. See above for what it does. I found a slight chip in my signal board and it took some difficult board repair to get the runs connected again (please be careful, as the repair is difficult and not nearly as relaible as an unbroken board.

Anyways, install your new board, put everything back, and power it on. I'm sure you'll have to do a convergance and some other adjustments, but if your doing this fix, a convergence should be cake. My problem has been fixed and I'm thrilled to not have to trash my TV.

Hyper module

no it does not need to be reseated. Most likely there are bad capacitors inside of it. The Hyper, or whats really a scan converter, is located right behind the input board. It is a square silver box. Good Luck

Horizontal sync

zeutaluras, My guess would be the same as yours because the horizontal osc. is synchronized when you apply the signal to the HD inputs. I am assuming the signal with embedded horizontal sync and composite video passes through the tuner boards as you mentioned. I'll confirm with the schematic once I see it. If it is a separate board can you get one to substitute? I think you may be able to locate the problem with an oscilloscope and schematic if you can access different points in the schematic. I'll try to help once I know more. My problem prevents any type of built in diagnostics since the set doesn't power up.
