Unfortunately, I have the same problem described, and what worries me is as stated by oma72, the cool feature stops working after only a few minutes. I can hear something attempt to engage itself every few minutes (it hums) but only for that noise to stop and the cycle again while the fan runs continuously. My assumption is that the compressor is either locked up or is kicking off on low pressure. Does this sound right? Any suggestions will help, and yes, I tried emptying the condensate pan only to find it bone dry : (

Have you tried emptying the condensate? I think there's an indicator when that needs to be done.

Dan,
Go to the following website and scroll to the bottom of the page and fill in their form and they will give you a range of dates that your Kenmore could have been made. Several manufacturers recycle their model and serial numbers so you end up with several different years that you machine could have been made. You will need both the model and serial number for their form. Hope this helps! Appliance411 Service How old is my appliance Age finder date of...

I have a Whirlpool Gold ultimate Care heavy duty Super Capacity Plus. Model: CEQ8858EQO & Serial number: MH1503498. It overheats when it hits the 'cool down' mode, or 'air fluff',...

Hello Gregory,

Their are 2 things that will typically cause that

1) the venting is crushed/blocked/restricted,check the vent from the back of dryer all the way to where it exits outdoors

2) i can not find your exact model number so i dont kow if it has a computer control or simple timer
if computer control the thermister(electronic thermostat) is what i would suspect
if simply timer the cycling thermostat is in question

So ya know the thermal fuse is a non resettable fuse and if were bad the entire dryer would not start so disregard it as beig the trouble uless the dryer doesn't run

no, you have a problem there somewhere, it either is A. a bad timer not advancing, or B some kind of thermostat somewhere that is not getting satisfied. give me the model number and i can look into it.

Kenmore Electric dryer runs on cool down forever.

Call the mfr and ask them about it. This problem may be pretty complicated. There may be a problem with your board that tells it to go to cool down. Can you set the timer for 45-60 minutes and it stay on heat for that long?

Time skips from 18 minutes to 6 minutes on automatic mode

It is the moisture sensor system, it is not sensing the wet clothes. Open the door, inside you should see a part with 2 metal bars that is around 3 inches long, clean these bars with a mult purpose cleaner. Sometimes fabric softner sheets and detergent builds up on this so that the machine cannot sense the moisture. Hope this helps.
