Question about Siemens SpeedStream 5260 ADSL LAN Modem p/n 060-5260-003 (SPEEDSTREAM5260)

Siemens ADSL Modem (model SL2_141) networking

Hi Experts,
we have a siemens router that has four ethernet ports and a WLAN to use for our Data One broadband internet connectivity. but we are able to use only one port at one time for the connectivity. when using the ethernat port, the net access thru the WLAN or any other port is not possible.
could it be a problem of the router or our networking? how can we access internet thru different computers using the WLAN and the ports at the same time?

    my ADSL modem sl2_141 is having four ethernet ports and I have taken connection for business plan (multiuser),but able to use one port at a time.Pl suggest step by step procedure to use all four ports.

    we have 8 comouters which are not able to be internet connected at a time by the same modem, only 4 computers are able to be internet connected at the same time by the same modem. how we can have internet connection in all of the 8 or more computers.Please do show me the way out.

    i got a new SIEMEN SL2_141. well my laptop is detecting the wireless network but no page is opening when i try to connect to any URL..i was told two connection wont work togather. i also have a PC how can i disconnect from my PC and surf net on my laptop using WI-FI ??? pls help ... i have a XP

    i am using SL2_141 Siemens model provided by BSNL. I have made manual dun & got connected in my main PC. entered id "admin" & password "admin". There are 2 options "ADSL" & "wireless".

    I want to simultaneously connect to Wireless laptop. I have
    goneto-Security- Put SSID & 64 bit or 128 bit WEP password and
    saved.Onmy laptop the network recognises the SSID & when i enter
    WEP key itgets "connected". But when i open internet explorer there, no
    websiteopens up & "Page cannot be displayed. I tried another
    browser too.Also tried in Safe mode with networking. Technically every
    bit is correct but what other settings arerequired to be fed on the
    "". Or what should i do for simultaneous wired & wifi

Thank you Debajit for the wonderful solution. Please refer to solution no# 5. I iam providing the steps: 1. open the url (BSNL provided Nokia Siemens WLAN Router) with username 'admin' & password 'admin' (default). 2. click on WAN link under ADSL nad from the table on the right side 'edit' the first connection settings. 3. in the 'connection type' screen select 'PPP over Etherner (PPPoE) instead of 'Bridging' (which is selected by default i.e. set by the BSNL setup guy) and click 'next'. 4. This section is new as it would now ask for the credential to connect. The credential is same that is used for connecting through the icon on the windows network connectivity section, which is again provided by the BSNL. Also apart from the credential you need to type something (i have put 'BSNL') in the field 'PPPoE Service Name'. Now click next.. next.. next & finally save 5. Now you would be in the same configuration screen for WAN from where you have started editing the configuration. Only difference you would notice is only for the top row settings (which you have edited) the 'IP Address' field be with an IP address leased from BSNL server and others below that wuld be blank as before. If you do no see the ip address then reboot your modem/ router once and check again. When you can see the IP address there try browsing directly from your computer.. no need to click on the PPPoE connector before browsing the internet. if you need further help do call me at 9830011178 Regards, Nilanjan

Hi i am using siemens adsl (model SL2_141) for 2 pc but it cannot find or open any page and it only works with one pc .So can i use with 2 or more pc or will i have to give or change the (tcp/ip) adressed or leave it same for both the pc.

friends, just get changed your modem to PPOE setup in which user name and password will be written inside the modem. after the setup is over just connect all PCs through the ethernet ports given backside of the modem and note it that all PCs IP address and DNS server address will be blank that is automatic setting. All PCs connected to the Modem will work automatically.

There is no problem with the Router. Perhaps your broadband plan is for Single User (SU). You will be able to use all the port if you would subscribe for Multi User (MU).
Better you talk to your SDO Office for change of plan, then you will be able to use all the ports

So that means its working well and connected to the ISP' server. What is your connection? Is it ADSL?
First make sure that all light have the color of green. If they are Flashing with color RED that means the property associated with the light is having a failure.
Here are the description of Colors and Lights.
Modem Light state: Unlit Flashing Red Flashing Green Steady Green
Power Light
Modem is not getting power - no light Modem has failed POST - Red Power is on - Steady Green
Ethernet (2nd Light)
No Ethernet link detected - No light Problem with ethernet port or cable - Flashing Green Modem has detected a successful link to a PC or router - Steady Green
DSL (3rd light)
ADSL sync signal is not detected - Red Modem is trying to synchronize. - Flashing Green Modem has ADSL sync and is ready for PPPoE session traffic - Steady Green.
Internet (4th light)
Modem has given up or isn't configured to initiate the PPPoE session - No Light PPPoE initiation has failed or PPPoE has been terminated. - Red Initiating a PPPoE session to Internet - Flashing Green. Modem is ready for Internet traffic - Steady Green.
Note: This light sometimes not working even if the connection initiated.
Normal DSL traffic flow - Flashing Green. Steady traffic flow - Steady Green.
Solving problems.
Case1: You have to connect your machine to the Modem Via the Network cable. Plug the other side of the cable to your Machine. (Not the modem port. Network card port.). Case2: You have to make sure that you have installed the Network Card drives. To check that you have to use Device Manager. Follow these steps. Hit Windows key with R In the "Run" box type devmgmt.msc In the right hand side check whether the network card is installed. If it has a yellow exclamation mark or a mark with red that means you haven't either installed or its having a device/driver problem.
Case3: If its fine then what you have to do is to check your network settings. Heres how: Since you haven't specified the Operating System I m including the Windows XP method here. Not much difference in other Operating Systems as well.
  • Get the Control Panel.
  • Go to Network and Internet Connections.
  • Go to Network Connections.
  • Check the Local Area Connection.
  • Right Click and check "Status".
  • If it says connected
  • Check the Duration and Speed(100 or 1000Mbps).
  • If the settings are fine go to "Support" Tab.
  • Check whether the Machine has received an IP Address. Which is often in the range of for Siemens Modems/Routers.
  • If you see an IP Address which starts from your network card was unable to pick an IP Address from the DHCP router which runs in the modem. (If you run a DHCP in the machine you have to configure to stop leasing IP Addresses to your machine from the Router/Modem. You can try the "Repair" button below and it will try to Release and Renew your IP. If it fail either you have a problem with your network card or Modem/Router (Could be the cable also).
  • If you still see the IP Address which starts with 192.168 the connection with your Modem is fine.
  • Next: Right Click on the Local Area Connection again.
  • Go to "Properties".
  • Double Click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  • Check the settings.
  • The settings should be "Obtain IP Addresses Automatically" and "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically". (But if you know the router's/Modem's IP Address you can configure it and you can give a "Static IP" to your PC as well. It must not be the Router's / Modem's IP and must be in th SAME SUBNET. If router uses you can assign it as
  • Then Apply the Settings and go to the "Status" again and then click on "Details".
  • Except Wins Server all others must be populated with values in 192.168 range. Check the "Default Gateway" Setting. Its very important that you have pointed the machines Default Gateway to the Router/Modem.
  • Final Check:
  • Go to the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) again and click on "Advanced".
  • Check IP Settings (first tab) too make sure DHCP is enabled on you machine.
  • Go to "Options" tab and Check TCP/IP Filtering. Click on properties and make sure that the Filtering is not enabled. If it enabled make sure your network adapter Permits all routers traffic in to the machine.
By following these options will let you surf the internet.
Check for the behaviors of indicators as well.
Case 3 :Browser settings
In the Internet Explorer go to: Tools -> Internet Options ->Connections -> LAN Settings -> Its fine if any box is not checked. Or you can check the "Automatic Detection".
Last thing is If you have a Firewall or Antivirus Suite Please make sure that you are not blocking adapters and traffic/application. You can try to disable Windows Firewall and check whether it works as well.

I have been getting terrible download speeds. I am with telus and there cheapest plan offers speeds of a little over 200 kbps. I am getting about 60. Is this the router or them?

Hi! your modem is a dlink dsl 300, if the modem is connected directly to your computer and you are only getting a speed of 60kbps..there is a chance that there is a problem with the modem.

I this modem is supplied by telus you have to inform them about it so that they can replace this modem right away... and this is a discontinued product from dlink.

Delete your broadband connections in start ->control panel -> network connections

it is currently set as your default connection type. Remove it and if you set up the D - Link correctly, you'll go right online.

X6 won't pick up DSL

hopefully you haev installed the software first on yoy computer>
turn off the computer. connect the phone line one end to the ethernet port on your computer and the other end to one of the LAN port on the x6.
power up the (power cube shipped with the X6), the Pwr and the WLAN should come on and become steady, the LINK light should blink,
turn on you computer, connect a new phone line between ADSL port and the wall jack, the LINK light should become steady.

A flashing ADSL light on the router means its not getting constant broadband signals. Make sure it is connected to the adsl filter without any extensions and the filter should be directly connect to the main phone socket and not to an extension socket. Also check if the phone socket has 1 or more than 1 ports on it. If it has two port its most likely a SSFP socket which does not require a filter as it is inbuit.If all the connections are fine try changing da filter.

Dual Routers?

Disable DHCP in the router. Connect the modem to a LAN jack on the router. You'll have 3 LAN ports. If you need more ports, buy a hub. (You can change the default IP address on the Linksys, but you can't forward through 2 NATs.)
