Screen goes black for a second or two every few minutes

This indicates the inverter transformer is going or a capacitor issue.

Trouble with my BenQ monitor

You have LCD panel failing issue or it is not getting the proper voltage to the panel. Look at the power supply and logic board section first for failed caps (leaking/bulging tops). check ribbon cable between the logic bd and the LCD panel. If it is vertical stripes, the the T-CON board, part of LCD panel, then you will need new panel.

Trouble with my BenQ monitor

As a general rule, this is a panel failing.
The panel is working for a few minutes until it heats up then begins to breakdown. Blowing air onto it wont help since the area in question is under another panel inside the monitor.
The video control board (inside the monitor that converts signals between your PC and the physical panel) could be failing.
Another source of the problem, though rare, is the capacitors that filter power for the panel's power supply (on the main powerboard) begin to break down and that is enough to cause the issue.

Because this is a BenQ, it may come back to life if you replace any capacitor that looks even remotely suspect & resolder all the main components on the powerboard.
Be warned, there are dangerous voltages stored by the main filter capacitor that can kill even if the monitor has been unplugged for several hours.

Monitor wont turn on, light flashing

A number of things can cause this. Incorrect BIOS settings, cable problems, a faulty monitor or problems with your video card.

1) If you can change the monitor cable - do so
If it worked, great else - carry on....
2) If you have two monitor inputs on your computer swap the connection to another input, only if it is on another card. If it worked great, else carry on.....
3) Try a different monitor to see if the same thing occurrs... if it does then it is either video card or BIOS
4) Reboot your computer and watch the screen - it will tell you to pres a key to enter BIOS or setup - do so.
Switch of cacheing of Video RAM
and Disable ACPI settings - all power and green energy settings. If that does not do the trick then it is most likely your video card - or your monitor... borrow a monitor and video card for ten minutes and you will find out which is the problem

When turn on color is great..after a few minutes turn blue and green

Sounds like the lcd is bad but here is a way to verify that. Hook up a known working monitor to the computer, if the colors stay great after a few minutes then you know the original monitor is good.

If the colors turn blue and green after a few minutes with the working monitor then you know for sure that the video card is bad and the video card would need to be replaced.

Picture won't stay on.

The problem is with the backlight inverter driver. It thinks that one of the CFL lamps is bad. I fixed mine by opening it up and cutting a track in the inverter board (with the power off!!). But you need to be a bit of a geek to undertake this fix. I you want more details email me at lmann1952@yahoo.com

Starts up looking good then in 3 minutes, all hell...

Go to the ViewSonic site and read through their knowledge base on your monitor.

Then once you familiarize yourself with electronics safety by reading through a basics manual once or five times, and once you've got it, open up the monitor cold and/or hot, and find out where they spilled Coca-cola down the back or whatever might be suggested by the ViewSonic knowledge base.  Lather, rinse, repeat; when the monitor acts right, then stop.

Screens works for 5 mins then goes blank!!!!!

It could also be that the video card is not compatible with this monitor. After the pc boots up, can you get into windows? Does the monitor always go out at a specific time on boot? Say for example; you boot the pc, windows startup splash screen comes on; screen does a quick flash and goes blank. Then it maybe the BIOS setting for the video. Try changing the IRQ setting. You could also try putting the video card in another slot. Do you have the manual for the motherboard? Ray
