Go into the Hardware info or Drive properties and make sure it is recognizing the whole HDD. You can also check if the drive if working correctly when you go into your BIOS. Just go to the Boot Order and make sure the computer sees the drive, then set up the boot order to go from CD-ROM & USB before going to the HDD. If you've done all this and it still doesn't work then you might have to wipe.

I suggest use a wipe program,
it should be simple to delete a non partition but you may not have all he tools needed. a bootable floppy with dos is preferred.

here is a small free program http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,22920-order,1-page,1-c,harddisk/description.html

I just got my acer aspire one with Linpus Linux OS I am not used to Linux so I changed my OS to Windows. After changing my OS, the wifi connection is lost and so with the audio. help me restore them....

Hey,

the drivers for all acer laptops are available at this page
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html

from the aspire list, select the aspire one that matches your model, its probably on the bottom or on the top, look around the laptop, the drivers are all at the website.

You will need atleast Wireless drivers and audio drivers, maybe more.

Its all there.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Operating systems

first off, is this a laptop you bought brand new? if so it should have a current OS on it, im thinking Vista, in this case you are going to have a problem removing it if you want to use XP or Linux. But you can use the Virtual PC program to run any other OS you want without having to remove Vista.

Good Luck

Wi-Fi drivers for Acer Aspire 4710Z for linux

The drivers for Windows can be used if no specific Linux drivers exist. There's a program within Linux called NDisWrapper which is designed to use the drivers provided for Windows XP in Linux. Refer to your particular distribution of Linux for the details on how to set up NDisWrapper from within your distribution (I've only done it in Ubuntu so have no experience of other distros)
