I have exactly the same problem now but also had it about 11 months ago prior to the warranty running out. On the last occasion, the helpdesk could not fix it and resulted in and enginners visit. After about 2 hours of scratching his head it was found that the internal setting for country was set to Chinese! It was suggested that some how it had defaulted to this setting and the reason why the CD/DVD would not print was due to Chinese law that prevents them from copying CD and DVD's!. He did a print out of the settings and sure enough it was set to chinese. He changed this by entering the engineering maintenance mode and made the change. I should stress that this was not the same setting as on the main panel menu acccessible from the menu function on the top of the keyboard. As the printer is no longer in warranty and I can not work out how to access this code I will probably have to pay for an engineer to come out to fix it again as the central helpdesks are pretty useless and according to them have never heard of the problem. Good luck!

Printing directly on a CD/DVD is only in a drive specifically capable of that function using a disc that is coated with a laser sensitive surface and goes into the drive with the side to be labeled facing down. If you are using your MP830 to print labels that you then stick to the surface of about any CD/DVD, you must have the correct label and software to print it. From the way your question is written it is hard to tell what you are trying to do?

Printer won't work at all. ON button is lit, but won't go off when pressed, and a test page won't print from the printer itself!

Try unplugging the power cord and the PC cord for 2 minutes then plug the AC back in before connecting the PC. If that doesn't work, unplug the AC cord again and hold the power switch on the printer in while plugging the AC cord back in.If it doesn't work, try performing a semi-reset:

Remove both the cartridges and then perform the reset.

Perform a semi-full reset on your PSC 2200 by holding the button
combination given below, while plugging in the power cord.

CAUTION: A semi-full reset will reset or clear the following
information:

* Return the user settings to the factory defaults.
* Delete language and country settings on some models.
* Fax logs.
* Fax headers.
* Fax speed dial information.

Press and hold "#" and "6" buttons while on the front panel keypad,
plugging in the power cord.

Now insert the cartridges back. Try printing a test page from the printer itself now. If it's OK, it means that the printer is OK. If not, there could be a hardware problem with the printer.
Good luck!

Bad Printhead

reset the unit.

Note:
A semi-full reset will do the following:
The user settings to the factory defaults, Language and country settings on some models, Fax logs, Fax headers, Fax speed dial information.

Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on and wait for 20 seconds.

2. Then, press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord.

Continue holding until it displays Semi Full Reset message in the front panel of the All-in-One.

Printer does not communicate with computer.

your problem must be not selecting the right printer...
find your printer in that drop down menu (i.e: in my pc is the 692c) and then accept everything else..ffe6acd.gif

HP Photosmart C7180 won't print!! I had an IT person come to my home earlier today, and it was printing when she left. Not 20 minutes after she left, it wouldn't print for me!!! This is the second time...

It would seem that your default 'printer' is set to fax and not print.
When you select print from the file menu it probably says something like HP Photosmart C7180 Fax in the printer option. If it does, go into the printer section from the control panel and make the C7180 (without the fax reference) the default (right click>set as default)

The epson printer driver dealing with cd printing is not installed

is there an ok button on that error message? if so just click on OK button and click on a button says manual.
It will let you check on the settings on the printer. paper size should be A4.
on print settings it should let you select on cd/dvd

Note: this only works if you have installed the epson easy print from the epson.com website of your printer model

CD/DVD Tray open; Close Tray to print

This solution is taken from the HP website.

Follow these steps to print on a CD or DVD.
  1. Make sure that the CD/DVD tray is completely closed (completely inserted into the product).
    NOTE: Make sure that the side of the tray that holds the CD/DVD is inserted into the printer first.
  2. In HP Photosmart Essential, click the Print tab.
  3. Click Printer Settings and then click Advanced to open the printer properties.
  4. In the properties, click the Features tab.
  5. In Paper Type , select Printable CD 120mm .
  6. In Source , select the CD/DVD tray .
  7. Save the settings and then again attempt to print on the CD or DVD.

Printer issues

I solved the problem. The last few times I used the CD printer, I was on my iBookG4. It used the printer menu that is the default menu for the program. Today I was using my Intel iMacG4 and tried a different angle. I changed the Box that said CD/DVD to print settings. There you click on the Media box and select CD/DVD. Interesting that both machines have been upgraded to Leopard but process the print information so differently. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Epson R300 CD/DVD Tray ERROR message with Leopard any Solutions?

One of the guys on this site said read the manual over and over again, and he was right.
You must go to system preferences and choose print and fax. Set the default media to A4. Then in the Print CD program when you hit print your will see fifth line down Epson Print CD on offer. Hit the arrows on the right and choose print settings from the drop down menu and then media type and choose CD / DVD. All should then work. It does on mine.
Regards and best wishes. David

First, install "epson easyprint" from the epson website. Its found under drivers and support for your unit.

Then click ok on that error message about "driver dealing with..."
After you click ok on the message, you will get another window where you will find a "manual print" button. Click on this manual print button and this will take you to the next window where you have to select "A4 as the paper size" and "CD/DVD as the paper type and paper path" . After this, click print... it should start to print! This is just a workaround until epson gets a patch for leopard for print cd........hopefully
