Worked fine yesterday, tonight it won't come on with the button on the set or from the remote. I unplugged it, plugged it back in and the green light comes on but nothing else happens. The light will not turn off with either the switch on the set or the remote.
Before I call somebody in, I'd love to have a direction in which to steer them. I've read a lot of "this might work" suggestions, but nobody came back and said, hey, it worked. The set is about three years old and has never had a problem until this.

Re: Won't turn on.
try unplugging it and thn plug it back if the light comes for 3-5 sec. and goes off thn you will hear another click noise when it goes off. you never get a picture or sound. If im right thn there are several circuits in the tv that might cause this. the most common are the power supply and the convergence circuits. a cost of a repair for either will range around $400.00. this is a great model and well worth a repair. good luck:)
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Try unplugging the TV.. After you plug it back in it may be OK. I had a similar problem were I could not turn on the TV (JVC). The owners manual specified in the troubleshooting section to unplug for 1/2 hour. I left it unplugged overnight and the next day plugged it in and it was fine.
Switch off the TV from remote, then switch off the on/off button on the TV, remove the plug pin from the power outlet. Cool off for 48 hours and then retry. If nothing works, better refer it to a qualified service technician.
TV won't turn on • Press the TV button. Make sure the TV is plugged in.• Check the wall receptacle (or extension cord) to make sure it is "live" by plugging in something else.• Something might be wrong with your remote control. Press the POWER button on the front of the TV. If the TV turns on, check the remote control solutions on page 26.• The front panel controls may be locked (disabled). Use the remote control to unlock the front panel controls by selecting the Lock Fr. Panel in the PARENTAL CONTROL menu and press OK (box won't have check mark).Buttons don't work • If you're using the remote control, press the TV button first to make sure the remote is in TV mode.• The front panel controls may be locked (disabled). Use the remote control to unlock the front panel controls by selecting the Lock Fr. Panel in the PARENTAL CONTROL menu and press OK (box won't have check mark).• Unplug the TV for two minutes and then plug it back in. Turn the TV on and try again.TV turns off unexpectedly • Sleep timer might have been activated. Go to page 24 for instructions.• KidPass might have been activated. Go to page 21 for instructions.• Wake-Up timer turned on the TV and no remote or front panel buttons were pressed for two hours.• Electronic protection circuit may have been activated because of a power surge. Wait 30 seconds and then turn on again. If this happens frequently, the voltage in your house may be abnormally high or low. • Unplug TV. Wait five minutes. Plug it in again.
First try turning the TV on from the Power button the set itself (assuming it has one).
If not, unplug the TV from the wall, wait a half hour, then plug it back in. It should come back on.
Also check that none of the buttons on the remote are stuck down, and that the batteries in the remote are OK. The toy might've stuck a repeating button down (like volume) which may have then drained the remote's batteries.
