Hi I was using ziphone with 1.1.4 firmware and wanted to use Quickpwn 2.1. I restored my Iphone from I tunes by clicking and holding SHIFT then hitting restore in I tunes and after it rebooted it asked me to insert original sim-card. I inserted my pay as you go O2 sim-card, which it was happy with. I went to upgrade to 2.1.1 firmware but it asked me to upgrade to the latest I tunes. After updating I tunes I then uploaded the firmware 2.1.1 I then followed the procedures exactly as explained from QuickPwn, everything worked fine. It came to the end which also unlocked the phone but when putting in the unofficial sim-card, it said “Please insert original sim-card.

How to jailbreak an IPhone/Ipod touch

What is iPhone Jailbreak? In short, Jailbreak is the process of hacking an iPhone to free it from Apple restrictions.
Because the iPhone is far from flawless as Apple created it, thousands of iPhone users have flocked to Jailbreak in search of iPhone changes and improvements. iPhone has been held back by limited customizability, text message privacy issues, and a lack of multitasking capabilities. But Jailbreak can solve all of these problems with apps and fixes available in Cydia and Installer.
Cydia and Installer are the unofficial "App Stores" of the Jailbreak world. Developers create apps and tweaks and different utilities and upload them to these package managers, which organize everything into categories. The differences between Cydia and the App Store are the lack of an app approval process, and the lack of access limits on the iPhone software - i.e. you can do things Apple did not design the iPhone software to do.
Why Jailbreak iPhone?
  1. No restrictions. Want a custom wallpaper on your home screen? Custom icons for your apps? Internet tethering? A category system for organizing your apps? The ability to hide native iPhone apps you don't use? You can do all of this and more with Jailbreak, as iSmashPhone describes in ten reasons to Jailbreak your iPhone. As one of my readers recently noted, Jailbreak can make all your iPhone wishes come true.
  2. To join the subculture. Sick of Apple's stranglehold on the iPhone? Those who Jailbreak iPhone belong to a movement of people who demand more from their iPhones. And they're not gonna let Apple stop them. Beat the system: Jailbreak your iPhone.
  3. Unlock iPhone. To unlock your iPhone and use it on any carrier, you must first Jailbreak your iPhone. Some of the Jailbreak solutions below also allow you to unlock the iPhone, though unlocking is generally beyond the scope of this tutorial.
Why NOT Jailbreak iPhone?
  1. The folks at Apple know what they are doing. They have not enabled multasking - the ability for apps to run in the background, simultaneously - most likely because it is a huge battery drain. By controlling the user experience, Apple ensures that your iPhone "just works," and you don't have to worry about managing battery life or any other technical details.
  2. Jailbreak could (maybe?) brick your iPhone. "When someone develops something for an Apple product and that development isn’t sanctioned by Apple, you run the risk of it not working as it should, conflicting with the device itself, or just all-around bricking that iPhone," warns Chris Pirillo, who prefers not to Jailbreak his iPhone because "my iPhone just works already." But I have never heard of Jailbreak completely ruining an iPhone. The consensus at this forum seems to be that the chance is "extremely slim."
  3. Every iPhone update from iTunes disables Jailbreak. Every time Apple comes out with an update for iPhone, they find a way to prevent hackers from cracking the code again. Hackers then scramble to Jailbreak the iPhone again and release the new methods. That means if you like to download Apple's iPhone updates, you are going to have to figure out each time how to Jailbreak your iPhone yes again. Do you really want to play this cat and mouse game?
  4. Jailbreak might increase your risk of getting a virus on your iPhone. The only two iPhone viruses ever reported have spread across iPhones that have been Jailbroken. That's not to say the iPhone platform as Apple built it is totally secure. In fact, some say compromising an iPhone's security is "child's play" (i.e. easy).
  5. Jailbreak voids your iPhone warranty. If your iPhone is bricked because of Jailbreak, or if your iPhone has another problem and it happens to be Jailbreaked, your warranty becomes void. I once saw a sign at the Genius bar of The Falls, Miami Apple Store that warned customers not to Jailbreak iPhones or they would void their warranties. Harsh.

On your iphone go to www.jailbreakme.com and have fun!

Helloo, im not a happy person today :( ..i bought my iphone 4 from ebay and i was told it will be workin on orange network as it is on orange network ..i inserted my orange sim card in the phone and i can...

The most likely solution to your problem is the services on the SIM card are specific to data, without knowing the exact abilities on the SIM's account, it could be the phone or your Service Provider that is causing these issues. Your best bet would be to call Orange and verify if this SIM card is set up for texting and calling, or just data. If Orange does confirm it should work, it may simply be that your iPhone is not compatible with that network, and you should switch service providers.

If the phone still has a factory OS and is not jailbroken, then your best bet would be to jailbreak the phone and this may allow it to connect on networks that do not normally provide services to iPhones.

****NOTE: DO NOT try and jailbreak your iPhone unless you have done this in the past, jailbreaking an iPhone is a somewhat meticulous project that if done incorrectly can render your phone into nothing more than an expensive paperweight. If your phone is needing to be jailbroken, have someone you know that has done it in the past do it for you.

Hi i updated my phone to 4.0 now its says sim is not supported

That means your iPhone was previously jailbroken and unlocked that's why you were able to use the sim card that you are using right now. To use that sim again, you need to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone again.

My iphone 2g has no sim card in it but it is stuck on the page where when i slide to unlock its only for an emergency call

It seems that your iPhone 2G is in need of activation. To accomplish this, there are 2 ways:
A. (With AT&T as your service provider)
1. If you do not already have an AT&T sim card, contact AT&T and ask for an AT&T sim card to activate service with them. Choose your plan and insert the sim card in the iPhone.
2. Connect the iPhone to iTunes and you will be prompted to follow a few steps to proceed with the activation process.
3. Sync your iPhone for the first time.
Once completed, you will have your iPhone activated and ready to use on the AT&T network.

B. (Without AT&T as your service provider)
1. You will need to download an application to jailbreak your iPhone. (This will essentially remove certain restrictions on your iPhone 2G that prevent you from utilizing your iPhone on another network, among other things).
2. Connect your iPhone to the computer and run your jailbreak application of choice.
Once completed, your iPhone 2G will be activated and jailbroken. The "emergency call" message will disappear, though you will be prompted with a "no sim card found" message until a sim card from AT&T (or another GSM carrier) is placed in the sim tray.

I update my jailbreak iphone now does not recognize the SIM card even I try to reboot it again still the same does not work

You need blackice on it to unlock. Did you re-jailbreak your phone? If you update the IPhone software, you normally have to jailbreak and then unlock again.

Hi,

two questions:
1. Do you use Mac or PC??
2. What version is your Iphone on now? 2.2?

Dont worry as of today ANY iphone on ANY version can be unlocked.

Im pretty sure that Ziphone is not uptodate anymore.
I recommend Pwnagetool or Quickpwn to unlock/jailbreak current versions of Iphone software.

Problem with iphone Firmware version is 04.02.13_G for V1.1.2

The software (firmware) in an iPhone is designed to detect (indeed reject) tampering. It is only available (full-featured) in the United States of America. Apple is planning on marketing other countries, but hasn't done so yet. Until they do, the most reliable 'fix' for your issues will be from hackers, most of whom aren't the least bit reliable. The most you'll be able to do is use it as a phone and send and receive text. Most of the high-tech features that make an iPhone desirable won't work until the network supports it, even if you do find a way to hack the software. Many users in the USA have found that hacking their iPhone has made their phones useless, since the system is designed to detect and reject service requests from iPhones using pirate software.
