Sounds like the transistors in the invertor section may be your problem, sometimes the pico fues will blow as well, you can check with a multimeter transistor 5707

Monitor wont work

Try a different power cable. If it uses a 'brick' type power supply, try a different one. If that doe not fix it, the monitor is bad (which is why it was given to you). Monitors are cheap, get a new one. Good Luck.

skeltonh, Have you connected your L170 to a different "known-good" PC that has ALL power-save and screen saver modes disabled? Have you connected an old monitor to your PC to see if it will act same way as the L170? 12fixlouie

Yes probably your monitor should be check by a technician. Try to see the warranty for you monitor if its still catch the warranty service for it, they may replace it. Bring it back to where you bought it.

The sreen is black, and the monitor light is orange

This usually indicates an input problem. There are number of things to check:

Make sure the screen is plugged into a working output on the video card - if you can, test the video with a different screen.

Try a different cable; Swap for the same type of cable, or, if available, use a different output method(Such as HDMI).

If using an adapter on the cable, try using a different adapter.

Test the cable on a different display, if possible.

Ultimately, if the video card, cable, and connector are all working, or the display is still not, its likely a bad input board within the display - if you're savvy and have some time to kill, replacement boards cost between 20-70 bucks on ebay.

173v flat lcd black screen

I've had a similar problem with my 173v monitor since I bought it a few years ago. When I start my computer, Mac or PC (I've connected it to both), the screen remains black and the green power light flickers once a second, almost like it's twitching - it's different from the blink it makes when the computer isn't turned on but the monitor is. Like kronem, I have to unplug the line from the monitor to the computer, wait for the monitor to register no input, and then plug the monitor in again before it displays anything. I've never figured out a way around the problem - I hate it!

Monitor Black, Green Power Light Flashes Monitor is 4 yrs. old

Assuming you've already checked your driver and system settings, tried a different monitor, and checked the cable and connector pins, this would almost certainly be a problem with the power or signal circuit board inside the monitor.
