The same Dryer Model did not heat so I changed the fuse and seems to work ok. I was also going to change the igniter but did not know how to get to it.

Can you get to the igniter by simply openning up the back of the Dryer or do you have to completely disassemble dryer.

If you have to dis assemble, how do you do it?

Gas dryers would have an igniter to start the flame. check it first to see if its still ok. be carefull in handling them, they are very fragile. check also for availability of gas. could have a closed valve.

My gas dryer runs but no heat.

Most gas dryers use a surface-type ignitor, a ceramic element with traces that glow to ignite the gas and yours has failed. BTW, it's helpful to give model numbers so we don't have to guess.

My kenmore model 70 wont heat. I replaced the coils, and gas sensor. the unit has been thoroughly cleaned. the igniter is heating up, the gas will light, then goes out a few seconds later. the unit is a...

Hi, Make sure the 4" vent is clean al the way outside. Make sure the vent hood in the wall is open. It sounds like the heat is short cycling do to poor air flow.
If the vent does not appear to be an issue, Watch the ignition while running and see if the ignitor glows later in the cycle and shuts down before the flame ignites. If this happens, you will need to change the coils on top of the gas valve. Please let me know if this helps you at all or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Will not heat

glow bar igniter ... - thermal fuse ( not all models ) ... - coil on the gas valve ... - gas valve ... - thermostats ... - motor heat switch ... - timer ... - selector switch ... - sensor ... All these will cause this problem.

Gas never ignites in any cycle in a 10yr old Kenmore dryer.

Chances are your igniter has gone bad. It must pull atleast 3.2 amps to open the gas valve and ignite the gas. A new igniter could probably purchased for 20 or 30 dollars.

Kenmore gas dryer model 110.76814690 will not heat up

The bottom panel is held on by spring clips. Use a putty knife to access the bottom. The heat is regulated with a Klixon mounted next to the blower housing near the vent pipe so it can judge the temperature of the air coming out of the drum.Right next to it is a melting type fuse.8f17134.jpg If the dryer runs and gets too hot the fuse will melt. But the dryer will still run. So if the fuse is good(continuity) and the dryer control(cycle) thermostat is also good then you should have power going to the gas valve assembly when the machine is running unless the timer is in the no heat or wrinkle free/cool down mode. When the gas valve assembly is energized the flame sensor a%20flame%20sensor%202.bmp flame sensor mounted outside the burner chamber detects the heat from the ignitor. When the heat is very intense then the sensor shuts down the igniter
a%20igniter.jpg Igniter and that frees up the power so that the coils can be fully energised and open the gas gates. The gas comes out and hits the red hot igniter and you have ignition. It stays on for maybe 2 or 3 minutes or until the control thermostat is satisfied and shuts down power to the gas valve assembly. So... If your gas dryer has a good flame sensor and a good igniter AND the dryer will work some and quit, replace these: dryer%20coil%20kit.jpg Gas operator coils NOTE: The coils get hot and quit on these machines when they get a little age on them. It is aggrevating because it is a hard to diagnose thing. But well worth the 20 bucks.
