Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
PROBLEM : INSERT DISK IN 360 CONSOLE
The laser going bad is a pretty common issue with the drives, since it's a Hitachi that spindle motor could be all gunked up with dirt as well and cause that issue also.
if ya have a Hitachi, if it's a Samsung it could just be the laser.

Games have updates built into them, and if it was in the middle of an update and the power is turned off, then you need to complete that update before it will read any game discs. By inserting all your games it will find the the one you need and the update will complete by itself and your xbox will be fixed.

The dvd drive and the motherboard have a key that must match each other. The xbox 360 dvd drives are not plug-and-play. You must first extract the key from the original drive and spoof firmware to make the new drive match the key on the motherboard. There is an easy way though.... just take the pcb board out of the old drive and stick it into the new one, then everything should work fine withough messing with the firmware.
