The waste ink disposal is almost full and it won't print

I have a canon pixma mp130 that keeps saying the waste ink disposal is almost full and I have no idea how to fix it. I paid $9.00 to get an answer to this question, so far NO luck.

I have a Canon Pixma IP4000R. I never did get around to really cleaning the ink absorber pads thoroughly. Pressed the resume button to continue printing which works for quite a while. Used pliers with paper towels to soak up a little ink now and then. Should have followed a suggestion on fixyourownprinter.com which told how to clean the ink absorber pads whichare several small sponges inside the base. Use a flashlight or desk lamp. There is one long narrow one, almost whole length of bottom; one small square one & one small rectangular one on the right side; one small squarish one on the left. When most of ink is soaked up by towels/tissue, remove carefully with tweezers, noting how they go back. Rinse in filtered water; dry; reinstall. If you wait until printer locks up, then you need the reset codes which Canon WILL NOT GIVE TO YOU. I'm phoning several repair centres to see if someone will help. I got an IP4000 service manual that I got from http://rapidshare.com/files/120417696/iP4000_Service_Manual.pdf . It tells what the # of blinking yellow lights mean and how to fix. There is no fix for a 7 times blinking LED light error which is the case with mine.

EUREKA! Found solution to my own problem. Short answer- When printer is connected but powered off: follow directions for 4 blinking yellow LED in the manual from http://rapidshare.com/files/120417696/iP... The first time I reset the printer, just a blank page would come through. Same for the 2nd time. The third time, IT PRINTED - YAHOO. Save a load of $.

Tip

"The waste ink absorber is almost full" message?

This applies to the CANON PIXMA MP130 and other ink-jets made by Canon/Pixma.

According to the user's manual, "Ink used to clean the print head is absorbed by the waste ink tank. When this message is displayed, the waste ink tank needs to be replaced, or the machine requires maintenance". There is no information about how to replace or empty the waste ink tank.

In any case, you can try the following to clear up the error, but eventually you'll need the waste tank to be emptied or replaced. And as far as I know, you can't find the replacement parts to buy, nor the instructions to empty the waste tank.

Turn on your MP130.
1) After that press: Menu - Scan - Copy - Scan or Menu-Copy-Scan-Copy-Copy in some models, it depends on the date it was produced)
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Enter NVRAM ACCESS
4) Select SET ABS-M LEVEL TO 0
5) Select OK
6) Keep selecting OK untill you leave the TEST MODE

Then turn it OFF and again ON. Check if the error message is still there.
The following is taken from the Canon website, regarding this specific error:

"Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk."

As I mentioned before, I have not found any way or procedure to empty or replace the waste ink absorber nor the necesary replacement part.

Waste ink tank is full . how do I fit new one?

That is a disposable printer, Canon never stocked parts for it. It was exchanged under warranty and tossed after warranty. There's no absorber available for it and no way to reset if you did change it.

Canon pixma mp130 waste ink tank almost full how do I empty it

Hi There
How To Reset Waste Ink Canon Pixma MP130

The waste ink take is actually just a felt pad that sits under the printer mechanism inside the case and absorbs the ink from your cleanings.
From what I gather, it’s both a time consuming and expensive proposition to take to Canon to fix.
And they won't tell people how to do it themselves.

Remember of course, you've got to cycle the cleaning process a huge amount of times to get this to occur.

But when it does, there is a fix-it-yourself solution that is both safe and effective for the printer, and free.
You have to be slightly mechanical to do this.
If you you've never used a screwdriver and are all thumbs, but give it a shot or give it to someone halfway coordinated to do this for you.

You may RESET the printer code first if you like or do it after you clean the pad

Here this step by step to resetting waste ink counter printer Canon Pixma MP130

1.You will include printer
2. Press button MENU, then SCAN, COPY and again SCAN - they entered

3. Select NVRAM ACCESS and further BY OK.
4. Select SET Abs- m level and advance value equal to zero
5. Select SET Abs- r level (if there is) and also you will establish into zero
6. You will turn off printer by button POWER.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

It's a shop repair since you have to take apart fully, and also use diagnostic mode to reset the error.

Printer problem

The error means waste ink absober is full, you must have been doing alot of printing,

Every Canon Pixma has a certain number of pages and/or cleaning cycles it can go through before the waste ink pads are considered to be full.

I have not been able to find the number of pages to fill the waste pad anywhere, it might be in the users manual.

An actual number of pages printed would be more helpful, how many reams of paper have you run through it?

If that machine has a self test page it might include a page count. try the follow steps:
Turn on your MP110.
After that press: Menu - Scan - Copy - Scan.
It will enter in Service Mode.
Here I don't know exactly the procedure but may be something like that for mpc190/200 that follow:
Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter
1) Enter SERVICE MODE.---
By pressing Menu-Copy-Scan-Copy-Copy
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR].
5) Select 0. [INK COUNT].
6) Press the [OK] key.
7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.
