Question about HP iPAQ H5550 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Wireless woes My 5550 had been getting wireless perfectly up until a few days ago. THen, it suddenly does not realize it has a wireless card in it. When I click on "settings/ etc., etc/ select network" there's no wireless networks listed. When I try to get a web page it tells me there's no network card. I've tried to download the wireless drivers off of HP --- no luck. Same with a firmware update. do I need to do a hard reset? I'm not sure what happened, perhaps it was something with an active sync -- but that never happened before. I'm totally mystified, so any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated! thanks K

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
Make sure that the DHCP server on the router is enabled

If your laptop is not "on range" this problably respond to:

1) Interference problem or bad signal.
2) Bad hardware devices (cards, routers etc)

Check your wireless router (turn it off in a while and see what happen)
Check your wireless card adaptor in your computer (My PC >> right click Properties >> Hardware >> Device Manager >> Network)

Let me know how it is going!

Acer notebook wireless just connects when near to the modem...

The connection between the laptop's internal wireless antenna and its wireless card may been disconnected. Best to take it in to a computer shop for fixing. If you want to fix it, open the PCI-E cover on the bottom of the laptop, then reconnect the antenna wire. If that doesn't work, get it serviced.

The DWL-G510 doesn't start

If you have formated all your drives you will have no official motherboard drivers for your pci bridge, sound driver, onboard lan or video, usb or agp slots, only the generic windows drivers which arent always reliable, so check you motherboard model and then go to the manufacturer web site and download the correct drivers. All the work you have done was unnecassry unfortunately, unless it gave you major system faults, the fault may have been motherboard drivers, i also recommend removing the pci card and before installing the board drivers and using a different pci slot.
