If paper is jammed, a Paper jam message will appear on the control panel display.

Follow these steps to clear the jam:

Gently pull any jammed paper out of the output tray or sheet feeder.
If the paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus CX.
Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus CX back on.

Note: Be sure to check the far left of the carriage area when checking for jammed paper. Paper that is jammed there may be hidden from view.

If paper jams inside the Automatic Document Feeder, clear the jam as follows:

Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover and remove any jammed paper.
If necessary, lift the document cover and remove any paper that has jammed inside.
Press OK to clear any messages on the display screen.

Hello There this may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Usually, it's caused by carriage error. Turn on printer without ink tank pluged. Then do replacement procedure with pluging ink tank 1 by 1.

Carriage Jam -- Paper Jam

I have serviced an officejet pro L7580 which was showing a paper jam error when powered on. our customer had had a paper jam and removed the paper . I found small peices of paper in the pick up assy gears. If you remove the rear door, you need to check the 2 small white gears on the left. turn the roller slowly by hand and clear any paper stuck between the teeth. (they may be very small).

after doing this....no more paper jam errors for me!

I own a PictureMate Epson personal photo lab. It has been sitting on my desk for over 1 year with the message Error:Paper is jammed in the printer. Remove the jammed paper, then press (OK). I have done this, many times, I have talked to a "solution Person" and unfortunately they have told me it can't be fixed. I am just warning anyone else, not to buy this product. I have printed less than 100 pictures and it now doesn't work anymore. Just DON'T BUY THIS EPSON PRODUCT
