Depends on what model of finisher you have. There were 3 different finishers available for the Di251. There are usually instructions inside the stapler cover "door" but they may not help much. Also if you have OEM Minolta staples then there is an instruction sheet in the box. Really need the model of finisher before I can give you a better answer.

There is a thumb release lever that keeps the slide bar locked down. Take your thumb and push up ******* this plastic release and it should open so that you can add staples.

How do you add staples to a swingline 8784x stapler
You need to remove the black cap at the back of the stapler, then use a screwdriver to press down on a lever inside the stapler. The stapler holder will pop out at the front, then pull it further out and load with staples. May be an easier way, but this what worked for me.

I have a Ricoh Aficio 1035 stapler problem.
if you press the finishing button on the display does it so stapler function there ? or try taking the staple cartridge out and then close the door on the finisher and see if it says out of staples. if it does it knows it has a stapler unit.
