We've recently bought the G604T wireless and it works fine -- but there are quite a number of sites that we couldn't go to, e.g. hotmail, vodafone, trademe ... etc. Would you please be so kind to help me out here ?! I kinda need to get my email up running again !

Re: G604T - sites problem
You need to reset Internet Options - First close Internet Explorer - Go to control panel and click on Internet Options - then click Advanced - then click Reset (you will see a pop up window with another Reset button) - click on the second Reset button - you will see check marks displaying, when it finishes you will be able to click the Close button. Open Internet Explorer and try Hotmail, if you get error messages please include those when you respond.

No setting would have any effect on that. If you are downloading the same file from the same site on both wireless and wired, and nothing changed other than your ISP, then there is not much that can be said other than wireless is always questionable, anything in the environment including your neighbors moving furniture, or adding or changing their own wireless network can effect your wireless network. The connection to the wireless access point would not effect the speed of the wireless network. That being said if the tests that you are doing involve different files or downloading from different sites, keep in mind that Comcast limits the speed of connections to sites if they feel it is using too much bandwidth and the owner of the site does not pay fees to Comcast.
Have you checked that the signal on your new cable modem/router is strong enough to reach your wireless devices? You may need to re-site the cable modem to get better coverage in your home. Your old one probably worked fine in the same position but that doesn't mean a new one will. There are a few things you can try to get the best of the range it has. Internal walls and furnishings all play a part in reducing the effective range of the router. Most routers will give you at least 50 metres indoors. Keep the router as high and as far away from walls as you can, this will greatly improve the range. Try to ensure the router is not screened by large near by metal objects such as steel PC cases, these will absorb wireless signals and reduce the range.
Sounds it is your modem. I had a similar issue with my old one. I had a westell 6100F and now have a 6100G that helped. My company had to replace about 150 of line about 1000 Ft away from my house. The cable was in a storm drain and it was getting wet and interupting my internat connection.
Seems that the installation of windows update got interrupted that might have caused the registry changes for your Operating system. You can try repairing the windows.
simply put the Operating System cd in the drive and restart the computer. follow the setup instructions. you will have a "Repair" option during OS install. If the same does not work then you will have to select the format option instead of repair, but the same should not be a problem as you just got a new comp which does not have any data.
I have purchased recently a USB wireless internet service from forton modem . The USB modem is not working the desktop but when I try to install the USB modem on my computer desktop massage display error 797 Epivally cdma driver not installed Is any component - driver missing on laptop as it was formatted earlier.
I did a research regarding the modem that you have, and it seems like it does not have any wireless functionality. If this is the same modem that you are using you can check this link, this shows the data sheet for your speedstream 4100. And it don't have any info regarding wireless/WLAN.
Just plug the cable modem ethernet into the input to your router and you will be fine. Just remember, if you decide you want to make any changes to your router settings through your browser, make sure you hook up an ethernet line from your laptop to the router before making any changes. The reason for this is if you make a change in security settings on your router while wireless, the router will reboot and if your laptop did have the settings changed in it, you can be locked out. Not that you can't get back in, but it is a pain to have to do.
