I love my Brother Sewing Machine, however, I need replacement needles. I have broken all three and now I need additional ones. I have the Brother XL-5130. What needle should I get? I am just sewing regular fabrics for pillows.

The motor locked up because the thread is tangled. Remove the tangled thread before continuing the operation.Clean the bobbin case to remove the tangled thread. After cleaning the bobbin case, insert the bobbin case properly. If the needle is bent or broken, replace the needle.Then, thread the upper thread properly, and continue the operation. brother sewing machine
most domestic sewing machines use 130/705h system needles - buy a pack each of size 70, 80, 90 and 100 to start. if you plan on sewing knits (stretchy) fabrics then buy a couple packs of ball points in size 70 and 80. put in a new needle for each garment you sew as a needle goes blunt in about 6 hours depending on what you are stitching. visit www.sewing.about.com and check out sewing machines 101 and debbie's article on sm needles for more good info. depending on what your heavier weight fabric is you may need to use a 110 size to handle it. the denser the fabric the bigger it needs to be.
You can replace a sewing machine needle on your own. You can purchase needles online or at your local craft/sewing store. They will hopefully have a section there with sewing machines that they will then be able to show you, easily, how to replace the needle, because they're all pretty much the same. It goes through the basic steps and should give you what you need in case you're ordering replacement needles online. You can get them at Joann's (do a google search) and just order regular, everyday machine sewing needles-you don't need special ones.
What stitch pattern do you have it set for? Are you #6 patterns? Not the buttonhole one? You really should read your manual for all of the tips and it will answer what type of needles, stitches for different sewing situations. If it is not broken, just slide it back on and line up with the eye of the needle. If, broken, call Brother, at 1-877-276-8437. Don't worry I have one of these machines too, they are tougher than they look. I have 6 sewing machines and each one has their own quirks.
