Need more info. Are you talking about a internet connection or a wireless. Is the connection on broadband or dial up? DSL or CABLE?

Connecting lighting correctly

Don't know what you're working with.

AC household electricity?

Common (White) wire goes to all three lights. Goes to silver colored screw.
Hot (Black) wire goes to switch, then all three lights.

ALWAYS put the switch in the hot wire. Not the Common.
Reason?
Let's say you are changing a light bulb.
Your feet are on the floor. You are then considered to be Grounded.

You have the light switch off. You go to remove the light bulb, slip, and a finger goes in the socket.
Result?
You get shocked.

Hot (Black) wire has the switch. This time of you slip, and a finger goes in the light bulb socket; you won't be shocked.
The power is turned off at the switch.

Common wire comes from source. (Service Panel/'Breaker Box'), and goes to the lights.
Hot (Black) wire comes from source, and goes to light switch.
Then to the first light, second light, and third light.

Is there a 3-way switch involved?
Walk in one end of the room, turn the light on, walk to the other end of the room, and turn it off?

Post back in a Comment as to the exact query.

I have a Gateway 310 XL H desk top PC. After the storm, Isaac, It won't power on. The red and green lights come on, the red goes off after a short time. The monitor flashes a manfacture logo then

The system is powered up if green light on, the hard disk is powered up if red-light on for a few seconds then goes off, but I assume it's not loading up after that. You have no output to video.

Try holding f2 or f4 to load default bios when turning on. If that doesnt work then That would point to me that there is a problem with either:

1) processor burnt out, or needs refitting following a knock to the case causing a bad connection.

2) ram burnt out or not correctly installed. Try refitting the ram or using a different combination of ram.

3. Bios chip burnt out. Sometimes you can literally see the chip is slightly melted.

4. Other motherboard fault, look for melted chip or damaged component.

5. Psu faulty or not connected properly. Check connections, or bench test with another psu.

Have you moved the pc recently? Sometimes dust builds up under processor or along ram, and when moving pc giving it a slight knock can cause bad connection. If dusty, remove clean and re install.

Hope it helps.

My averatec lcd won't stay on

Can you try your monitor on another computer to see if it does this there as well? Usually this happens only when video is not detected coming from the PC. It could be as simple as a short in the monitor cable. If you have it connected to a laptop you'll also want to check you control panel power setting rules and then the screen saver under display.

I want to put my video on my pc but im not sure what connections from camera to pc i have a sony and i only see on the pc a place for head phones or for a microphone

Your camera probably came with a cable that helps you do this. The cable has a rectangular USB connector on one side, and a smaller trapazoid connector on the other end. This cable connects your camera to your PC. The cable goes into the side of your camera, and the larger end goes into the BACK of your computer. There are usually 2-6 USB connectors on the back of the computer. It doesn't matter which one you connect the camera to - they're all the same. When you connect the camera, your computer should automatically come up with instructions. Good luck!

Monitor freezes up with multicolor wording or distorted images

Sounds to me like a few possible things...

1) Bad connection to the monitor, check the cable connection, if you see or suspect any damage, buy a new monitor or test with a friend's monitor.

2) Video card could be bad, if it has a video card, you could simply buy a new card to see if it will fix the problem. If the video port is attached to the motherboard (meaning onboard video), the motherboard could be damaged.

3) The motherboard could be bad. Sometimes fried motherboards will garble the screen like this on bootup.

The Screen is Dark and Cannot be Bright by the Brightness Keys. It Flickers when it first comes on but goes Dark. Can see it if you shine a Flashlight on the Screen. Also the Lid Switch if you Press that...

Assuming all of the connections are secure this is most likely due to a failing LCD inverter which is basically the backlight of the screen. If it's less than a year old cash in on the manufacturer's warranty. If it's not you might as well buy a new one. Hope this helps.
