Benq lp 50 projector

I have been getting poor color contrast on my projector over the last 50 to 60 hours of viewing... its lamp hours total 474. What do you recommend, it was suggested that it could be the filter, what steps do i need to take to replace it and test to see if this is the problem.

My projector has the same yellowing issue, Viewsonic PJ1165. I bought it used and it does appear to have come from a smokey enviroment. If that can cause a yellowish picture what needs cleaned or replaced to fix it. I'm not afraid to open it up but a starting point might save some time. Thanks T

If there is a yellow circle in the center of the image, and it is an LCD projector, then it is more than likely that the blue polarizing filter is burnt-out. I don't know where you can get replacements - I would like to get one myself for an aging Sanyo PLC-5605B.

Do you have any pictures of the problem? 1st i would try and adjusting the color first then tint. Sometimes if it is in a smoky enviorment it can cause a yellowish circle in middle of picture if it is a LCD. If it is a DLP, then it could just be the lamp going bad. I have seen them go bad as little as 50 hrs. This is why they give a 90 day warranty on most lamps. Let me know how this pans out. or email me back. Talk to you later.... Jay

My benQ bp2 120 micro seris projector keeps turning off

One of two issues. One, the unit keep overheating. Common even with my projector. These things should be serviced and cleaned as dust clogs intakes, fans and exhaust ports. Proper venting is essential. If you have the ability, take the unit apart and use compressed air to blow off all circuits, vents and generally all around. Do NOT use high pressure...just the blow off cans will work fine. Second, the lamp could be on it's way out. Check the hours on the lamp counter. Generally, a lamp life that states it is good for 2,000 hours will last about 1,500 as turning the unit on an off eats lamp life.

Additional information is required for us to assist. Can you better describe what you mean by "poor image"? Are the colors separated? Is the picture out of focus? Are the colors wrong?

Please describe the picture or post a picture of the screen if you can.
