I just had a second line put in my office today. When I plug in both lines to the phone, none of the phones in the house will work--Even the phones that only have the original line shut down. I can plug in each line independently to the phone and all is OK.

I found the problem. With two separate lines coming into the phone, one of them had to be a two-wire line and the other a four-wire line. I had two four-wire lines. The circuit was interrupted.

You should trace the original line and then connect it using the parallel connection so that there is no interupting in each phone.

If you use the original line w/o connecting the 2nd phone the phone works.

Hp officejet 7310 not receiving fax

Is the phone jack cord plugged into the jack?
If so, is the jack operational?
To check the jack, take a land line phone that is working at another jack and try it in the jack your fax is plugged into.
If the jack is operating ok is the wire from the jack to the fax in good condition?
Maybe try the one from the land line phone on it.
If you have already tried all of these things then there is a wealth of knowledge on this site.

My phone says check tel line.

I have a similar model from the same manufacturer.

You've got the AC adapter plugged into the wall and the phone base, and the phone wire with std. phone connectors plugged into your phone jack and phone base, and it's still not working.

This can happen if the phone line is not active, or if the "pair" of wires is reversed (which is how DSL worked exclusively for years). Ultimately, it's not sensing a dial tone on the line you're base is plugged into.

First, make sure you can hook up a std. phone handset, if you have one, to the active phone line wire and plug to make sure the line and wire can result in a dial tone. Then, unplug that phone and plug in your new base. You should now be able to use the phone.

If, for any reason, you can't get a dial tone, it may be possible the plug you're using had a two-line phone plugged into it previously, which places the other line on another pair within the 4 wires for that type of plug. In other words, the active wires you want are in the wrong place for the phone to access.

I would recommend taking this handset to a phone jack you know to work fine with a single-line phone, near an AC outlet, and give it a try there like I outlined above. If it works there, then it's just the phone jack and maybe wiring position that is your issue.

You can also find at many hardware and electronic stores a simple phone line checker. It's a small box with some lights on it, with a short phone cable and plug coming out of the other end. You plug this into your phone line jack, and it tells you if the phone wires are wired correctly (typically a green light), or crossed (red light). This may be the source of your problem.

I hope this helps!

You get around the problem by unpluging the phone and taking it back to wherever you got it, or going out and buying a CICS, MICS, or BCM cabinet to plug the phone into.

A Multi-line digital phone doesn't operate on a POTS telephone line.

Phones do not ring

Check the DND button- it's the far right button on the top row. If DND is not on, your ringer volume is probably turned down.

The volume is set independently per line. To set the volume:

1. Press Conf, then using the dialpad, press either 1, 2, 3 or 4 to indicate which line you want to adjust.

2. Press one of the VOLUME buttons to increase or decrease the ringer volume.

No dial tone, just buzzing noise - should be 2 line phone, 1 jack

What you need is a dsl filter since you are working off a splitter. You can usually get these for free from your phone company.

Phone connection for Lucent 854

You can get a splitter for it which will then divide that one phone jack into 3 out or 4 out which ever you need. the only problem that you might run into is how close the phones might be to each other. Otherwise there isn't much other ways around it with only one phone jack.

My intercom button flashed red to green. When I push a line button, I get a two-tone beep but no dial tone. I changed the internal 9 v battery. I unplugged the phone and waited, then plugged it back in....

Each telephone must be connected to line 1 and line 2 for
proper operation. The remaining lines 3 and 4 may — or may not —
be connected to each station as you desire. First plug in the battery, then the phone lines (1 & 2 are mandatory), and third the power cord. If your intercome LED is blinking red and green, then press: STORE IN, followed by "INTERCOM" followed by a free intercom# (i.e., any of the memory buttons 1 through 16 not already assigned to another telephone set). Then wait for the phone to go through its initiation sequence during which it searches each of the four possible lines. After that concludes, you should get dial tone on your active lines. :-) Marco

Programing

Here are some suggestions Volume You may adjust the ringer, speaker, handset and headset volumes independently with the VOLUME ^ and VOLUME v buttons. Your telephone comes with predetermined settings which can be adjusted to individual taste. You will hear an error tone when the maximum or minimum volume level is reached. During volume adjustment, a ?dashed line? icon shows in the display. Adjusting the Ringer Volume Press the VOLUME ^ or v button while in on-hook mode. And/or 1 Selecting a Ringer Tone You may select the ringer tone for each line independently. You may choose to turn the ringer off or select one of the four available ringer tones for each line. 1. Press STORE. The red indicator blinks indicating unit is in Store Mode. 2. Use the number pad to select a ringer tone 0 through 4 (selecting 0 turns the ringer off). 3. Press STORE and then press the desired line button. NOTE: The line indicators continue to flash for incoming calls even with the ringer disabled. You may not select the same ringer tone for both lines. Checking the Ringer Settings Check the setting or each ringer (on, off) by pressing STORE, followed by LINE 1 or LINE 2 button when the phone is on the hook. The ringer setting of the selected line will be shown in the display. If there are any further questions or comments please post here. Please rate this solution through fix-it. Thank you.
