Is the DVD player producing S Video? If not the projector will not work. Has the projector got a composite video input? if it has try that instead from the DVD player. Hope that helps.
Unfortunately the hour glass symbol remaining on the screen is indicative of a firmware failure. Unless you're a real wizard and know how to reload the firmware, you'll need the support of an onsite engineer.
When you open the top (like putting a document in for scanning) there is a slider (button) on the left hand side of the glass. Just slide it from the "locked" symbol to the "unlocked" symbol.
It took me 2 hours to fix this problem, after the house cleaner turned my MFP to locked without me knowing.

Cheers,

This should help. When the hourglass symbol stays on, press and hold down the start button for at least 15 seconds. The screen should clear and then you can navigate back to the correct opening screen and select music, videos, photos etc. as you require.
Every Samsung multifunctional device has a scanner lock underneath the glass. This is to prevent scanner damage during shipment. Th user's manual in the CD and the unpacking sheet clearly illustrate where this lock is. If you open the top lid and look to the lower left corner of the glass, you will see a small lock-open/lock-closed symbol. Underneath that symbol you will find the lock. I'm including a small visual reference of a similar model. Just remember to turn off and on the unit after the lock is removed.
