Sandisk cruzer 2 gb.

I have a sandisk cruzer 2 gb. I have been using it on Windows XP and stored excel and word files. Tonight it decided it needed to be formatted! I am concerned i will lose all my data. The exact message i'm getting is "the floppy disk in drive F is not formatted or has been formatted for a Macintosh" Any suggestions?

Hi,

There are a few possibilities. Bad drive. Bad (or incompatible)driver for the floppy drive. Bad controller. If it's a driver problem, the solution in Win9x is to disable the device in Windows. This forces the computer to use compatibility mode for that drive and it should work.

Hi this problem only occures by somehow getting a virus the only way you can use it again is by formatting it and removing the virus im not to sure if you format it that you can use a data recovery programme to get back the files you want.
If you are unable to acess the files on it then the chances are they are lost for good.
When you conect to comp does it tell you it needs formating as soon as you plug it in.
If this is the case then the virus has changed the format on the scandisk so you might not get your comp to read it again without formating.
But if you do format you will be able to use it again and should have no trouble.
Has somebody else tryd using it in a different comp like mac as this would change the format let me know ok

You didn't' say which operating system you are using. Any current version of Windows (XP, Vista, 7) should be able to load a driver and not need a download for it. In any event, you can find the driver you need on the SanDisk website here:

Sorry but you wont be able to put a file larger than 4gb due to file format limitation since you used fat32. only NTFS supports files larger than 4gb. if you want to use it with large files you need to format again using NTFS. hope that helps!

HOW CAN I PUT A FOLDER AND THEN A FILE ON TO A SANDISK CRUZER USB 2.0 4GB FLASH DRIVE ?

When plugged on a computer running Windows, the SanDisk Cruzer appears as 2 icons: a CD-ROM and a regular hard drive. The drive letters for the two are consecutive (ex: E:CD_ROM, F:SanDisk.
Any file or folders that you have to store on the SanDisk drive must be stored on the second device.

If the folder already exists on your computer, point to it with mouse cursor and right click. In the menu options look for the one that says copy and select it.
Open the Windows Explorer, locate theCuruzer icon that represents the hard drive part, click on it to open it. Point somewhere where there are no icons and right click the mouse cursor. Select the submenu Paste.

To copy and paste you can also use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL-C and CTRL-V

You can also open 2 explorer windows side by side, one showing the folder you want to copy and another the contents of the SanDisk drive. You can drag the folder to copy from the computer hard-drive and drop

How many files are on the drive? Are they in folders? The FAT formatting normally used for these drives limits the total number of files unless the files are in folders. I think the value is ~500 items - this is due to the minimum bytes to store each file. (If the files are in folders you can stack 500 items in 500 folders.)

One thing to try is to move the files to your computer, and then return them to the flash drive. (Formatting the drive after the files are safely on your computer is an option.)

Good luck.
