Question about JVC GZ-MG130U Camcorder

Uploading problem Could you tell me how I can upload videos in Windows Media Player format. I uploaded the program that comes with it and it tells me that it goes to a certain folder, I opened the folder and the icon indicated that I can't open any videos with the programs on my computer except for the one that came with the camera. I want to be able to edit on Windows Movie Maker.

yes, the videos play correctly with the software that came with the camera. I think the files are Mpeg7.... tried to look that up so I'm not sure if that is right or not. And we have Windows Media Player 10.

    could I phone you?

First off, the videos play correctly with the software that came with the camera? What types of files are in the camera folder? Are they .mpg or .avi or something else? What version of Windows Media Player are you using?

So after a little digging around I might have a solution for you. Use this program (Super) to convert your files into Windows Media Video (.wmv) files and Movie Maker should be able to handle them.

hhha, maybe tha tis the problem on video format.
If you want to upload to youtube, you need to convert the format to FLV. Use Video Download Studio to help you with conversion. it can convert between almost all the formats of video and audio:
FLV to MP3, AVI to WMV, FLV to MP4, MPEG4 to FLV, MOV to MKV, VOB to MP3, etc.

When I save videos to my computer's hard drive...

You may need to format the memory card in the video camera to save as mpeg. This would be in your menu options. Typically it saves in a file to view and the extra attachment is the digital finger print that it can read from. If this doesn't work, try downloading the file into a different viewer instead of the windows default player. You should also be able to "save as" a different format from within the windows media player.
Let me know if this helps.

You need to upgrade you ingest system. Windows Media Player(and your system card) probably can't handle the load. Try "Scenalyzer" it's economical, versatile and stable( http://scenalyzer.com/).

Editing a film

VOB format is MPEG-2 system stream and Media Player will play it. It may be required Codecs.
Sony DVD Cameras write data in vob format.
I would suggest to download Cole2K media Codec Pack in your PC, its free.

Dvd question

DVD-RWs can be initialised in either VIDEO mode or in VR mode. In your case you have initialised the disc in VR mode - hence the .VRO file extension.

VR mode allows you to edit the disc on the camcorder and is a newer format than VIDEO mode, which is the format used in most films, and which most DVD players 'understand'. VIDEO format cannot be edited on the camcorder, and can be edited on a PC. A VIDEO mode disc has to be finalised before you can use it on a PC.

Use VIDEO mode if you want to upload your video to a PC.
