Power light comes on but neither screen works. Nintendo DS Lite. Once when trying it out the screens came on but then went off again and nothing since. I suspect it has had some vigorous handling by my young son but nothing is visibly damaged.

Thanks Lamylamb. I went and checked out the slots as you suggested but unfortunately there was nothing jammed. I have since sent it off to Nintendo and they have replied with a quote for a new circuit board AU$95. I think their service was quite efficient. It seems that young son was too rough with the device and broke it.
Thanks for your help.

Make sure nothing is jammed into the game slots!!!! this will cause it to cross, and shutdown. also make sure u switch it on without the game inserted. and try different game card.

It sounds like the battery is dead. You can order a replacement battery direct from Nintendo at http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=108205

What color is the power light when the system shuts off?

Red: If the power light is red, or flashing red, when the system turns off, then the system's battery needs to be charged.

Blue: If the power light is blue when the system turns off, then there appears to be a problem with the system and it will need to be repaired.

I understand you have replaced the battery... make sure its a genuine nintendo battery and charge. Also the port could be damaged or the ac adapter... take a good look at both for damages.
The port should not wiggle on the DS and should be solid.

If the orange recharge indicator light blinks while the system is plugged in and charging, then it is likely that the battery is not installed properly.

If you have ensured that the battery is installed properly but the orange light still blinks, check to make sure that the battery is a licensed by Nintendo. The only licensed Nintendo DSi battery will have the model number "TWL-003" (Nintendo DSi) or "UTL-003" (Nintendo DSi XL) and will display Nintendo's logo.

The Nintendo DS lite powers on, but the screen is blank..

When you power the unit on, watch to see if either screen flashes. It's a very quick white flash. If that happens, the LCD that DIDN'T flash is bad and needs to be replaced. The unit will shut off immediately afterwards. If the unit stays on but there is no display on either screen, the board is bad and the unit is scrap unless you want to disassemble and reflow. This is a rare problem but it does happen.

Ds lite flashes on but fuses are ok

One or both your screens have blown.

Try removing the motherboard from the screens and attach the battery the green light should turn on and stay on.

Now attach the lower screen and turn on. If the screen is ok the screen and green light will flash and then turn off. (if the screen doesn't flash the bottom screen is you're problem and will have to be replaced)

If this happens the problem is then you're top screen which you will have to replace.

DS lite green light comes on, top screen flash, then switches off

Check L2 near the power switch on your DS mobo. That part usually get loosen or taken out when you drop your DS. And usually you can recover it when dismantling your DS.

NINTENDO DS LITE POWERS ON AND THEN IMMEDIATELY OFF

The system powers on, then performs a system check. The DS is finding some sort of error More than likely the top screen was damaged. I've been told that the screen that flickers is usually the good screen. The bad one doesn't flicker because it's damaged. You can replace the top screen yorself (if you're fairly handy), or you can pay a professional to do it. You can get new screens from Dealextreme.com for around 10US dollars, with free shipping. You can also find videos about how to change out the top screen on youtube. Hope this helps

Green pwr light comes on screen will not initiate, then goes off.

It looks like you hav a "brick". Something is wrong with your systemfiles that don't let your psp start up properly. You can either use " Pandoras Battery" (search on google), or send it back to sony to be repaired, if you have warranty (or not). :)
