Wireless won't load properly

Last week, I switched to wireless internet, then I bought a new computer. Now, the wireless internet will not load properly. Do I need to change my internet default settings, or should I just keep trying to load the wireless?

I am going to uninstall the program, take out the USB port, turn off the router, then reload the program. Seems simple, and it [hopefully] will work.

Gail,

Would love to help, Most computers like this have a wireless switch on them, when this is turned off then of course wirless internet would be difficult. I would instruct you to look for this switch and turn it on. I feel that could be your issue without even looking at it.

Other issues can be that the wireless security got twisted around when this frose so you might want to verify those settings as well,

Thanks for using fixya please leave postive feedback before you go,

I bought a new hardrive for my m2000 and when i load it it is giving me a "media test failure" response..... how do i load it properly?

If you bought a new hard drive (meaning the internal hard disk), it won't have anything on it. If you just install it and try booting your computer, there won't be an operating system to load. The BIOS (the operating system built into the motherboard) is set up to try loading the operating from connected devices in a certain order. Usually it tries the optical drive first, then the hard drive, and finally it tries to boot over a network connection. The media test failure message means it tried that last resort and still didn't find an operating system, and it's telling you that maybe you have a bad network cable.

You'll need to reinstall your operating system and applications so that the computer will start normally. If your computer came with a restore disc set, or you made a set yourself, you'd use those. If you don't have restore discs, you can do a fresh installation of Windows from CD. You need to find the disc for the version that came installed on your computer, since you'll need to use the product key from the sticker on the bottom. Drivers and utility programs you can download from Compaq's (HP, actually) support and drivers website.

Once you've got a bootable Windows system on the new drive, you won't get that strange message any more.

Can't access internet wireles router says connected hp is a vista

If Nothing else changed in the last 2 weeks, such as a new router, or other hardware changes, AND it just started happening, I suggest you do a "system restore" to a date BEFORE the problem started.
This should correct the problem, and if you did any updates or other software installations, you will need to re install them.

Finally, one option prior to system restoring is to turn off the wireless router (unplug it) and then wait a minute. Plug back in. Then turn on your computer. You can try this first if you haven't already..
Good luck..
