OSD that the air filter needs cleaned and that the unit will shut down in 1 minute comes on. Had a service man here this morning. No air filters found. He thinks it is the optic unit that could cost as much as $1900 to replace. The fan is working fine. When the unit turns itself off the power switch blinks red and the temp light flashes 5 times every 5 seconds or so. The fan stays on until I disconnect the HDTV from the outlet. It does not come back on after that and we can watch it for 3-4 hours before starting the process all over. We've called Panasonic they referred me to an authorized repairman who does not service the remote area where we live. The local repair man is in contact with Panasonic authorized service. Why can't I get the OSD to go away. The service man said that there was no dirt inside the HDTV??? The technical support at Panasonic speak very poor English. The unit was purchased at Best Buy November 2005. The bulb was replaced August 2007. Any suggestions

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Here is the rest of this tip about Dryer Maintenance

An OSD advising "AIR FILTER CLEANING" is displayed

You must remove the light engine then locate the filter by removing a black cowel looking device at top of engine held by 4 screws, then you will see the rectagular filter held with 4 screws you must pry out the filter it does not come out easy. Clean it with clear water and blow out with compressed air look at it through light to make sure it is clean. reassemble The sevice manual will show you how to remove the light engine.

Where is the air filter and how to replace it?

Six cylinder:
The air cleaner element is inside the air cleaner housing on the left side of the engine compartment. (It has a large hose connected to it).

To replace it: Disconnect the hose from the air cleaner housing cover with flat-tipped screwdriver.

Loosen the four bolts, and remove the air cleaner housing cover.

Remove the old air cleaner element.

Carefully clean the inside of the air cleaner housing with a damp rag.

Place the new air cleaner element in the air cleaner housing.

Reinstall the air cleaner housing cover, and tighten the four bolts.

Connect the hose to the air cleaner housing cover with a flat-tipped screwdriver.

Hope this helps you.

OSD Message Panasonic PT-50LC14 Air Filter Needs Cleaning

I had the same problem and the stupid tv would shut off after 1 minute. We opened the silver front panel , took the bulb out cleaned it, took the cover off the grey box to the right and very carefully vaccumed the filter and wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. It works great now!!! Make sure you unplug your tv before messing with it.

Filter cleaning issue

Try making sure that your cable box is turned on (if you have one) then try the volume down button (on the tv) at the same time as the tv/video button (on the remote).
If that works please post back about how you got past the first menu that does not allow you to reset the air filter hours...
We have the same issue and we cannot get past that menu.
I don't think we have an air filter???

Unplug the unit! Pull off the access silver panel from the front of the tv. there are 2 sma ll access panels on the front behind the silver panel. The one on the left, allows you to change the bulb, one screw to remove, Just to the right of it there is a second one. This has 2 small screws to remove to access the opening. Once you take this small cover off, you will see the fan compartment. On the top of it on the left side is one small filter, mine was pretty clean. The bear is the one on the bottom, that you can only see the edges, but there is a small opening on the bottom. It looks like it is suspended in mid air. Take a cue tip and clean the underside! I slightly wet my cue tip and it worked fine. I tried to remove the fan compartment, but it would not come out and I did not want to force and break it. Remember to unplug the unit first. After I used the cuetip on the filter, I have a small vacuum and cleaned everything carefully. I had heard to leave it unplugged for about two hours to let it clear after I reassembled the covers. I turned on the set and the message was gone and has never come back. I did not have to reset anythi.ng and worked for me. That was it for mine and it is working fine

Tepreture light comes on and OSD advising to clean air filter

if you take off the front panel to access the lamp for replacement. there should be the air filter near by that you can remove. Carefully clean it by blowing through it but use no liquids. If it is too clogged then filter replacement is probably needed. I think you have to get the filter with the new lamp otherwise.
