Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

1 Answer

Collate issue I have 4 pc's set up to print to a networked Xerox 8500. Only one of these 4 pc's can send a print job to this printer and get it to collate the pages. I've compared all of the settings between these pc's and made sure the collate box is selected. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling this printer. Nothing seems to work! Any ideas?

I actually ended up getting someone helpful at Xerox... It turns out you need to have a hard drive if you want everyone in your workgroup to have the collate ability. We now have a designated collater here! Thanks for the suggestions!!

This is so frusterating! My phaser used to collate after I got a special driver from Xerox, but now it no longer will and the hard drive is $500...an amount I am not willing to invest in this printer that breaks down all the time!!!! Avoid this model at all costs!!!

I printed some collated documents a few weeks ago but now I'm unable to so. Where can I get complete information about what is and is not possible with this printer. I can't believe that anyone would pay this much for a printer that would not collate at all without an extra $500 disk assembly.

Have you tried switching the type of driver. From PS to PCL ?
I will look up more in the morning and get back with you.

Why do multiple copies sometimes staple together as one set instead of multiple sets?

I don't know how/why, but if you set the Print settings (main print screen) to non-collate and the Printer Properties (clicking in to get to the staple option) to collate, it works correctly, stapling each set individually.

Since I switched to a new computer with windows 7, 64 bit, my phaser 8500 DN will not print correctly. Is there a driver available or a setting on my computer that might work?

The drivers are available from Xerox. However, if this is a network printer, I'd first try turning off your firewall's protection for a little while. Also check the cables (replace) and if attached to a switch or router try changing ports. Make sure that printer can be seen by the computer on the network.(

I hope this helps.

(At my household, we had the firewall stop the two-way communication for only one of the printers on the network. A special rule (in our case it was the trust zone) was needed to fix the issue.)

Collate copies

The control to collate printing is in the driver. If your machine is equipped with an output tray that will offset sort the sets then they will be staggered otherwise they will be in one stack.

This machine does not collate while copying. Dah...shame on Xerox!

Biz hub 250 Pdf printing problem

Hi I am former Konica Tech Support for 26 years. I do some network problem. Y may need to upgrade the copier memory. or this just simple setting. on the printing side I can assure you no problem. there is a setting on the operation panel choosing if you prepared pdf when ever you to e-mail, scan to box or scan to SMB. You can delete the old print driver and the control panel delete your even the printer Icon at the printer and fax folder. Re install the printer and the printer driver. And make sure send a test print. If so happened that you don't have the print driver you can go to Konica web site and download the print driver. There are many kind of print driver. postscript driver and etc. I hope this info will help you and if not you may contact me again.

Xerox Phaser 8550 Won't Print

I was having the same problem. Turns out the IP address in the printer was incorrect. Once I changed the IP address the printer works just fine through our network again. Find your IP address off your server and follow these steps:

1. Choose Info on display menu, press okay button
2. Choose Info pages, press okay
3. Configuration pages-printer info, press okay
4. IP address should read: Correct IP Address number should be displayed on screen.

If not follow these steps to change it:

1. Find printer setup on display menu, press okay
2. Go to connection setup-press okay
3. Network setup-press okay
4. TCP/IP setup-press okay
5. Auto should show as “Off”
6. TCP/IP should show as “On”
7. DHCP/Boot should show as “Off”

If any of these are not listed on display correctly press ok, reset to either On or Off and then enter correct IP address.

Press okay button and follow steps on display menu to exit back to main menu display screen.

Print error job storage

The printer needs to have RAM drive off, mopier mode disabled. Also the device settings for the printer needs to have Printer Hard Disk set to not installed and job storage and mopier mode set to disabled.

Xerox Phaser 7300DN will not collate

Try using the PCL driver from the Xerox website, rather than the Postscript one supplied with the printer.

I had the same problem and installing the PCL driver solved it.

KONICA MINOLTA C450 VXL Printer - When stapling multiple copies it staples all the copies together rather than each one separately as required. I use vista operating system.

There is an issue with the Konica Print Driver and the MS Print Driver. If Collate is turned on in both the drivers, you will get this problem.

The solution is to turn off Collate on one of the Drivers. Usually you will have an initial Print Dialog window that pops up when you can select your printer, how many copies and if to collate or not. De-select Collate. Then you should also see Preferences Tab. If you select that tab, select Collate and Staple, your print jobs should now Collate and Staple correctly.

Will not print multiple collated two sided publications without individually sending each job

I would try changing the driver you are using. There are multiple drivers and it really sounds like that will resolve your problem.
For the drivers go to Xerox.com.
on the tool bar select Support and Drivers.
Then enter your printer number, being phaser enter phaser 7300 in the search .
Select your operating system and there will be PS and PCL drivers.
I am 99.9 percent sure the issue is in the driver.
