Question about Sony Mavica MVC-CD250 Digital Camera

Sony Mavica MCD250 -"Door Open" error message

I dropped the camera. The door came open and disk came out. Nothing appears broken and the disk and door fit back in as before but I keep getting a "Door Open" error message when I turn it on. I tried removing the battery and waiting 48 hours and re-inserting it but got the same error message. Any suggestions,

I'm not 100% familiar with this camera, but if have any other cameras that you could use to post a picture of the camera with the door open it would help

Have that opened up in a service center and tell them that you dropped it. they will tell you that the sensor is busted. that will have to be replaced. hope this helps.

Sony Mavica FD95 Camera

This is a common problem with the Mavica FD95. There is a little switch in the drive slot to sense the write protect tab on the disk.

If you hold open the drive door without a disk in, you should see this switch where the write protect tab goes. Try operating the switch with a matchstick a few dozen times to attemp to clean the contacts. If that doesn't work then Very carefully let a drop of switch cleaner run into the switch and try operating it a few times then let it dry. Failing that you might want to open the camera to get to the terminals on the switch and test it with a multimeter.

If the switch is faulty and a replacement is not availble then you could just short(or disconnect) it to fool the drive into thinking any disk is writable.

Good luck

It comes that Disk not being recognized. I had the same camera before. You need to use good quality CDRs or CD-RWs. Usually Sony Mavica disks best with that camera. Maybe you cannot find Mavica in market then go for Sony, Philips, Imation miniCDR/W. also keep the lens of the internal CD writer clean. If you need further assistance please post your question

Good Luck

FORMAT ERROR

You may have a bad floppy... Just like floppy drives in PCs sony floppys do go out. If you search around as I did (sorry don't remeber the link) you can find diagrams on how to replace the floppy and they are available for sale! I think we found some for $25 per. Good hunting!

This is a common Mavica problem - you'll have to have the disk drive replaced.

This is an early floppy drive model yes? Drive error could refer to corrupt floppy disc or a failure of the drive. Check the disc angle first - new disk formatted to camera. If it is not that - then buy another camera A repair I guess will not be an option -but checkout Sony first.

IPhoto doesn't recognize Sony MVC CD300

Even though Sony Mavica digital cameras are listed as compatible with iPhoto, the camera has to be set to Picture-Transfer-Protocol (PTP) before you can download. In addition, you will need to open Image Capture in the Applications folder. As soon as these steps are taken, the camera is recognized by iPhoto and all photos downloaded into Image Capture.
