Please help me. I tried to install windows vista on my Asus F5VL, but cant seem to get it done. I picked d C: drive and what I got was that windows cant access the hard disk and dat I need to install...

Are you sure the hard drive is good? Drivers for hard drives are standard and included with Windows and on the operating system disk.

Reboot the computer and watch the screen and see which key it says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup then hit that key when you see the message. If you don't hit the key when you see the message it will not work and you will have to reboot.

Look inside the Bios and see if your hard drive is shown. Also look for something like AHCI and change it's setting.

On the Library section of the DT16300 I have approx 8.5 hours of saved programmes yet the display says there is only 18% of disc space left! out of 60 hours recording time?.

After Re-loading the Freeview Channels on 30th Sept, the disc space was nearly full on The Thomson DT16300. Go to Set up in the Menu, choose 'Personal Favourites' this will bring up all the stored Channels, For some reason a lot of the Channels are marked 'ON' each one takes up disc space. De-select every one, the channels stay in the recorder but release disc space. I now have 86% free. Trevor Rushton

Thomson DT16300 Freezing problems

Can anyone help me solve a problem with my Thomson DT16300? The orange light stays on. The fan comes on and off at the back. There is no picture and I can not programme it. I have tried rebooting but can't get it working apart from the orange light coming on and the fan starting up.

Problem with Thomson DTR DT16300-25 I have bought a DTR and I have programs stuck in the Program Library which I don't want and can't get rid of. If I try it hangs the DTR and I have to remove power to...

We've had the same problem with our Thomson DTR, but it was relatively simple to fix. Go to the menu by pressing MENU, then press 4 followed by 6. This will show the Help menu. Then, key in 1397 to enter 'engineer' mode, which contains several useful diagnostic functions. Scroll to item 7 (disable library video window) and toggle it to Yes by pressing the right directional button on the remote. After this, press Library, then delete the unwanted programmes.
It's very annoying, but hopefully the bug will be fixed when the next software update comes out.

Hope this has helped.

Frozen hard drive

If you have a Thomson DT16300, here's a handy fix that address freeze ups, lack of reception and problems on your Hard Disk:

goto MENU screen
goto SETUP screen
goto HELP screen
At HELP screen, Enter 1397 - this accesses the engineer panel - you can reformat the HDD in this menu - you will lose all recorded programmes and planned recordings but it clears locked or corrupted files

OR - at the HELP screen, press the GREEN button

On the lower half of the screen youwill see 3 options:

Blue - Reformat HDD - clears all the memory/HDD - useful if you have a corrupted file - you will lose all recorded programmes though

Red - reset the whole box to factory settings - good if you have a locked box or reception problems or cannto scan for new channels. It goes back to when you bought the box, so you will have to input favourites and planned recordings again

Yellow - Software revert - allows you to go back to the previous software driver - you may lose new functions, but you can always restore it back again using the same feature
