CLC 1180 with error E020 with sub 124

I have a CLC 1180. The problem is when it prints it stop on the Magenta color and has error E020 with sub 124. I have change both the starter and also change the Toner Density Sensor Unit (FG6-2541-000). Now I can print single colors like yelow, cyan and black but when I try magenta it stops and gives the error. I also change the hopper sensor (FH7-7336-000). Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks Bob

The connectors were already removed. I removed the connectors on all the colors because I am using a special ceramic toner and I add the toner by hand. I also have a clc 700 & 900 copier that are working just fine with the connectors off. So the problem with the
clc 1180 has got to be something else. What do you think? the code is E020-0124

The CLC 1180 doesn't have a cartirdge. It has 4-Developer Asemblies and a 4-color hopper for refilling.

Its not under warranty and most Certified Technician will not work on it because I am using Ceramic Toner. So I have to fix my three copiers (CLC-700,900,1180) myself. I have the service manual for these copiers and I know what the first part of the error is E020 but I am not sure about the sub number 0124. I think the one is for magenta but what does the 24 stand for? The gears look fine, I don't see any missing teeth. this copier only has 65,000 copies on it.

Also when I try to INIT-M the copier tries to do it but then it stops and gives an error E020-0124

Its a density problem with the Magenta. When I go to server mode and read the density of the SGNL I get yelow-834 and cyan 816 but magenta is 0.

No my CLC 1180 is still giving

There is magenta toner patches on the drum. It jams when trying to print test print 12, it jams trying to print anything that has magenta in it. Like I said before I can print single colors yelow, cyan, black but not the magenta.

E020 is process control, 01 os far left drum, 02 next, 03 next, 04 last or black. usually if it is sensor, it will indicate 01, since that would be the first one seen, it could also be a toner feed issue. remove cover on side to expose itb assy. while machine is warming up, look at patches on drum.
depending on test print 12, i have seen drums go 300 percent.
did u get problem taken cared of?

Hi A service manual below may be helpful.
http://www.nodevice.com/manual/newmans/canon_clc_1180zip/get9816.html

First, check for broken gears or missing teeth on all the developers. That is usually the cause.
E020 is a toner feed problem to the developer
If the copier is still under warranty. It's better to call up Canon 1-800-828-4040 and have them send out a Certified Technician to fix it.

Have you checked your cartirdge inside the printer? check the ink level of the colors, it may be run out of ink. Basically, the catridge has 3 basic ink colors (yellow, red, blue ). If you can see on of the cylinders of your Cartridge runs out of it. Refill it then perform print test page on printer properties just to make sure it functions properly.

Hi,

first check this site for the error codes.
clik here

The error code E020 refers to a density problem with one of the Drum Units.

ur hopper motor has jammed and it is not allowing the toner to go to the developer just open the hopper motor and put it into the developer or remove the connecter attacted to the developer. it will work . there is a gear actually on the motor which breaks.

So the only sol. is to replace, if it is under warranty caontact the customer care..
Goodluck,
Dont forget to rate me as fixya..

I have an older Canon clc 900 Error E020 Switch power on and off again"displays when trying to copy. When I turn the copyer off and on again the same message displays. What to do ?

Error :
Intermittent E020 / E061 codes.

Workaround :
It's possible that there is a poor drum ground from the static eliminator brush. You may need to replace the static brush with the drum grounding leaf spring from a CLC 350 (part numberFA5-9308-000). Follow the procedure in technical publication CTP.NO 700/800-69.
Error :
E020 sub code 0440 and light density on all colors

Workaround :
Check the developer assembly movement, i.e. up & down and that the magnetic roller is turning. Check the EPC readings, laser output, fold back mirror, and the connectors for the developer and the developer bias contacts. If all the above checks are good, then the problem can be with the AC voltage output of the developer bias HVT. The DC-voltage for the developer bias is split between two colors ( magenta & yellow ) or ( cyan & black ). The AC voltage is supplied for all four colors and it's loss will be seen in all the colors whereas the loss of the DC voltage would affect only two colors. To fix the problem replace the developer bias HVT part # FG5-3068-060.

CLC 1180 with error E020 with sub 0124

Did you change the Magenta stater/ developer? A E020 code is saying that the toner desity is low. Try replasing the developer and run the ATDC for Megenta and see if that helps. You may have a problem with the developing ass'y it self. You may be able to take another colors dev. ass'y with the hopper open and see if the code goes away. The sub code 0124 means that it is the Magenta dev. ass'y
