Question about Philips Televison & Video
This is second-hand without an owners manual. I just bought a new Home Theater System. It is hooked up properly to play DVD's...I can hear the movie play thru my surround-sound speakers, but cannot get a picture other than regular TV. Yes, all the obvious buttons have been tried. I have a universal remote (not the original) for this TV but it doesn't seem to be communicating my commands, such as getting a set-up/display screen so that I can program the HTS to play movies. Do I need a different remote?

Assuming you have picture on the TV when hooked up to cable, antenna or satellite I would take the DVD player to a friends house to see if it worked on their set (using your cables of course). If you can't get a picture on your TV no matter what, then it could be either the Jungle IC or EEPROM IC inside the set. Since it displays "No Video Signal" on the screen, that leaves out the High Voltage section of the TV. My main suspicion would be the video cable or settings on the DVD or TV.

SOURCE: DURABRAND HOME THEATER
if you have a cable box run the subwoofer thru that . should work fine but you will have to turn off sub to kill volume as its running thru cable box not the audio of the tv

SOURCE: home theater system connections
I have the same tv but my dvd surround is a toshiba, that shouldn't matter though. When I watch a dvd I go to component 2 which is where I have my dvd connected on the input of the tv when I watch tv and want the surround on I go to component 1 which is the tv input then on my dvd player I go to auxillary and I can watch tv in surround. I don't know the LG home theatre system but you should be able to select your inputs like between dvd, tuner, aux. Flip between them and you should get sound. hope this helps.
