Toshiba Tech said this is malware...Solution, use reboot disc and it will restart your system. You will lose all your data unless you save it.

This can be removed by your Toshiba service centre. They have to call Toshiba for a response code to remove the BIOS security settings. There is no back door or work around for this.
Thanks

Last attempt was with backdoor passwords...and no luck...It seems to be it is the bios password security chip! How in the world can this thing get activated by itself?? I sure didn't set any passwords...one wonders does toshiba slips you in that crap with updates so their tech dept. stays busy?????

  • Boss007 Mar 04, 2008

After every single thing that was listed on the internet to help fix this proble nothing worked...so I end up going to authorized toshiba service provider and he fixed in within few hr. for $130...and it was not the "SECURITY CHIP" ..now I am after toshiba to get my money back becouse this happend after I downloaded toshiba utility pack update from their website :(

Last nite the letter l on my r25 laptop stopped working. it's ony working now when i copy/paste an l in, or use the tablet keyboard...very annoying. i tried to reinstall the keyboard driver, and then used system restore...checked on the keypboard in the control panel, says it's working fine.

when i first turn on computer and open wordpad, i can type one l, first then no more. all other letters and numbers work fine, so it doesn't seem to be that the l can't work, as it will work once, so it doesn't seem like the keyboard itself is totally at fault.

hep! i don't want to buy another aptop because of one etter....yes i omitted the l's in that sentence for emphasis

thanks

I need a Response Code to remove a CMOS Power On Password on a Toshiba R25-S3503, can I find it on the internet?

No, unfortunately you need to have it reset and this process requires an advanced skilled tecnician to do this. Try asking your computer manufacturer if they provide these kind of service.

1. At the BIOS password prompt ("PASSWORD = "), press and release the following keys, one after another:
Ctrl, Tab, Ctrl, Enter
The computer's response should be:

Response Code=

2. Get response code from your local toshiba support center
Then follow the instructions the support guy will give you to unlock the laptop

"D:\ is not accessible" message

If the cd is in the drive then you have a problem with the drive itself. It might work on a cd but won;t on a dvd. That indicates the heads have gone out of alignment.

Usually means you need to replace the drive.

AC Port shorting out

That definatly sounds like you need to replace the jack for sure....I have fixed two toshiba's with the same problem myself. To get it done in the store you are probably looking at $150-300. Least that is what it was here. So i decided to buy the part i needed off ebay, take the laptops apart and resolder the jack on.
