Question about Sigma Camera Lenses

1 Answer

Lens Compatibility I have a Canon EOS Rebel XTi and am considering purchase of the new Sigma 18-200 F/3.5-6.3 DC OS lens. There is a 'caution' note on the use of the lens with 'large' sensors due ot "vignetting"? and the XTi has a large single plate CMOS sensor. Should I not consider this lens?

The XTi does not have a "full-frame" sensor, so vignetting should not be a problem with this lens.

DS 126151 error

What kind of error? Err 99?
You mention DS 126151, that's the model number. This camera is mostly know as Canon EOS Rebel XTi? Also known as the EOS 400D or EOS Kiss Digital X.
If you are getting a Err 99 while shooting, try any other lens that will fit on your Canon. In most cases the aperture will become defect in these lenses. Not worth repairing if you ask me. One thing you could do, is shoot only at its maximum aperture. So that'll be F4.0 at 70mm and F5.6 at 300mm. That might work, but that might not be suitable in every situation.

Does Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens fit canon eos rebel

Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of camera mounts. If you get the lens with a Canon mount then yes, it will fit any EOS Rebel camera body. A lens with a Pentax mount, for example, will not fit a Canon camera.

Is it possible to convert a sigma lens to fit a canon body or by using an m42 adapter?

Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. If the lens has a Canon or M42 mount then there is no problem. If it has a Minolta mount, for example, then replacing the lens will be easier and just as cheap as changing the mount. If it has Nikon mount, you can buy adapters to fit it to Canon or M42 bodies.

I just purchased a Sigma 2.8 f=28mm for canon but I don't know if it will fit my Canon EOS 500 N (same as Rebel G) 35mm SLR film camera. Can you help with this question.

Canon EOS 500N has an EF lens mount, so all lenses with Canon EF mount will fit. All lenses with MF and EF-S won't fit. If you purchased Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX, then it have EF mount and will fit EOS 500N.
