I had the same problem. The system from the factory does not ship confgured for continuous subwoofer output. To fix this, do the following:

1. Enter the system menu.
2. Go to "Speaker Setup"
3. Select "Bass Setting"
4. Change the setting from "LFE" to "LFE+Main"

That should do it... You can also see this information in the "Bass Settings" section of the product manual on page 26.

How do you get the receiver volume and tv volume to stop working together at the same time?

It sounds like your TV is responding to the Denon remote. There may not be any way to stop it. I would just turn off the TV speakers and use the ones connected to the receiver. If you're using the TV speakers to make up for the lack of a center channel speaker on your receiver, it may be time to consider buying a good center channel speaker. The speakers provided in most modern flat panel TV's aren't very robust. The whole idea of having a receiver is to:

1. allow switching between various sources while using only one HDMI cable to connect to the TV.

2. Take advantage of surround sound in the 5.1, 7.1 channel mode receivers provide. When you have a good receiver connected to quality speakers and a good subwoofer you can really experience the music and sounds in a home theater environment.

How do I switch from HDMI 3 to HDMI 1 on my Denon AVR 790?

You need to do the input assign. The receiver needs to be told which physical sockets are assigned to what buttons. Once you assign the inputs, then press the corresponding input button. So if you assign HDMI 1 to be your Satellite receiver on the TV/Sat button, then you'll get the sound

AVR-1912 & no subwoofer

It sounds like the sub has an auto power mode, hence why it switches to red (off), so your system will not detect it. If there is any control to switch it on all the time do so and try it again. It must be green all the time during the test.

My subwoofer is connected correctly (test mode it works fine). The Denon 589 receiver, however, when everything is set up and ready to go, doesnt seem to send any output to it, so there is no base sound. ...

What's the make and model of the subwoofer? It sounds like it's a passive (unpowered) speaker.

See page 9

I seriously doubt your test mode worked fine on the subwoofer level adjustmnent.

Get a powered (active) sub.

We have our subwoofer hooked up to our Denon AVR-787, but not getting any sound from it. I'm sure it's some knob we need to turn or button to push.... All other speakers are working Help?! We're not...

press setup/configuration on your remote you'll get configuration menu, then goto 'speaker configuration' check if the subwoofer is on, check that front speakers and others are set as small. There also could be subwoofer mode settings, remember current setting and try to change it.

I have a Denon AVR 790 for about 8 months now. Hooked up a combo DVD VCR player using the red/yello/white cables. It worked fine for about 6 months. Now I cannot get the DVD or VCR to play. I get sound,...

Hi,
If dvd combo player is only video source connected with Denon AVR 790 then unplug yellow video wire from Denon and plug it directly in TV input, now video signal will go directly to tv and sound will come from Denon AVR 790 speakers during dvd playback.
This is simple bypass that wont effect surround sound of dvd playback.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.
