Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console
Psp turns on as normal, audio works as sound can be heard from sony start up noise, but screen is just black but looks turned on but is not showing anything, sound can be heard when scrolling with directional buttons but nothing is being showed on the screen. Is it a problem with Screen, Firmware, or Battery? Please tell me how to fix this.
The problem can be caused by the screen connection (check if the latch is fastended securely) or the screen itself (defective or loose components of the circuitry on the ribbon cable). If the latter is the case you have to replace the screen. Part is best purchase on ebay and there are online guides that show you how to perform a psp repair and how to take the front plate off.

Your LCD screen has a lost connection internally. I have seen this a few time over the last few months. You will need to get a new LCD screen for your PSP installed. I recommend even if your technically endowed, that you get an experienced person to do this. The PSP is very tricky and delicate. Click on "repair Directory" at the bottom of this screen, then Select "Video Game Consoles" Pick a Repair shop that has replaced PSP LCD screens before.

SOURCE: PSP screen problem
It is most likely a screen problem, perhaps the screen is disconnected. I would suggest having it serviced, or perhaps you can try to disassemble it and check the cable is fully plugged in.
