Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
As far as I know, the only way to play backups is to "chip" the console. On the PS2 there is a switch located under the DVD tray that can be flipped to remove regional restrictions, allowing you to play import games, but it doesn't work with back ups.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Tips for a great answer:

I have also envountered problems with dogs life, my only reasonable explination is:
dogs life is most propably written on a normal CD-R,
and sometimes a chipped PS2 struggles to read CD-R games, you will also find that older PSX games wont work either, hope this is of some help.
have a blessed day.
