Question about Samsung SC-D372 Camcorder

1 Answer

No Disc Message

I am new new new to camcorders. My Samsung SC-D372, I bought Maxell mini DVD-RW for camcorders (30 minute). I tried 2 from the pack so far in the camcorder.
When door closes, the access light blinks 2-4 times in one second, then...
instead of getting an on-screen question on which way to format, I get "No Disk" error. Do I have the correct media for this player?

Can I be "stoopider?" The model number is SC-DC173U. That was quite a sloppy "paste. Apologies! Think I'll re-post under the correct model!

I downloaded the patch onto the Maxell DVD, hoping that once it was formatted, the camcorder would read it. No dice. Still comes up with "No Disc!" on the display. Guess I must try another brand. I'm really confused. I bought the Maxell DVD - RW 30 min 1.4GB Part no: 045089/RT. How much more exacty compatible a product could I have purchased? But really have not had time to pursue the next step in troubleshooting. Maybe this weekend. Thanks!!!

Thanks. Looks like it's identical to the patch you recommended on your 29 Jan post. 20070725135827312_0523_nt2.zip.

I formatted the Maxell 3.5" mini DVD-RW and burned the patch onto it. But the camera still treated this mini DVD-RW as "No Disc!" error. So, looks like I need to buy either another brand mini-DVD-RW - or - but another format mini- DVD - like DVD+RW or DVD-R. I'll keep you posted as to my progress.

    I now have tried 3 brands / 2 types.

    Maxell DVD-RW

    Sony DVD-RW

Memorex DVD+RW. The camera recognizes no disc.

I have 2 versions of driver I could upload into the camcorder but do not know how to get the driver onto the camera? I tried loading the driver from every mini DVD type listed above.

    Catch 22! "No Disc!" error.

Can I put the driver on a mem card & get the camera to update the driver from there?

Formatting the disk

Yes, the mini DVD-RW will work on this camera. When you insert the disk and power on the camcorder (with the mode on DISC), the camcorder will try to read the disk, and if it isn't formatted yet, the LCD display will offer you the option to format it (in VR or Video mode). Simply select and click to format the disk

My samsung mini DV camera SC-D372 keeps flashing "Protection" on the playback screen

turn the camcorder off, take out the tape, look for the protection tab on the side of the tape and switch it to the other side.

protection is a feature of your tape to keep you from taping over important videos saved in your tape

DVD Camcorder appears to have erased disc mid record!

I know it won't play in a dvd player till it is finalized. Leave it in camera mode, hit menu, and scroll down till you see the option to finalize. If you finalize it, it should play in a dvd player. I am having a problem with my camera(same model) where it won't finalize the disc. Any help out there?
