Screen blanks out int when on local channels

I am hooked to a dish hd receiver . This problem seems unique to only the local channels . The symptom is that the screen will blank out momentary then return , the problem seems to occur about every min or so . The thing that unique is if I go to any non local channels it works fine . The input to the tv is via hdmi1 . I would think if there was a hdmi problem it would show up on all channels ... thats not the case .

I had the same problem (a flashing HDMI 1 text box in the upper left hand corner of the screen every +/- 10 seconds) and rebooting the cable box seemed to help. I'd previously tried disconnecting and reconnecting the cables, but wasn't successful. I assume my problem originates with Time Warner Cable.

Dish tv support

Hi Vicki,
You may call them at
  • CALL US 1-888-615-3725 for DISH
  • You can also try this steps:
  • MISSING OVER THE AIR CHANNELS The quality of reception and number of channels available depends on the antenna's placement and the customers location. Weather conditions may interfere with channel reception. The Channel Display receiver menu option may not be set correctly.
    1. Check Over-the-Air Antenna ConfigurationCheck that the wiring between your DISH receiver and your over-the-air antenna is configured properly using Setup OTA
    2. Reset ReceiverIf the issue is only on ONE receiver, unplug the DISH receiver for 10 seconds and plug back in.
Please note: It may take up to 5 minutes for the reset process to be completed.
    3. Rescan Over-the-Air Channels to ReceiverAccess "Local Channels" select "Scan Locals" then "Save".

Sharp Aquos LC 32G4U not receiving any channels-

Most locations are real hard to get local stations using indoor antennas. If you are in a location where you do not have cable, I would try either a outside antenna on the roof or go with Direct TV Dish / Dish Network system.
I hope this helps,

Dish Network Channels Work but Local Television Channels Do Not

Do you have an antenna hooked up? You'll need one hooked to your converter box because the digital signal is so much more difficult to tune in to. This may help:

www.antennaweb.org

If you live closer than 15 miles, rabbit ears
If you live closer than 20 miles, omnidirectional
If you live closer than 50 miles, midrange outdoor (oldschool arial w/ rotator)
Further than 80 miles, you'll need a long range with rotator, perhaps even an amplifier to go with it. Print off what your results were on antenna web and bring it to a RadioShack or a local antenna store and they should be able to point you to the right antenna for your particular location.
