Question about Acer TravelMate C100 Notebook
I had the same problem and it checked everything. The solultion is very simple and costs nothing. Essentially, The Travelmate C100 cannot have the wireless Lan and the Lan (cable version) running at the same time and you have to switch between them. To do this:
1. On start up at Acer screen press F2.
2. Dialog box opens - scroll down to Lans.
3. You will see one is enabled, the other disabled. Enable the one you want (using the arrows on key pad) - which will automatically disable the other.
4. Press Esc and start up as usual.
Done! No cost, but a bit of trouble...

A usb ethernet adapter does not cost much and no troubleshooting needed.
I assume your trying to get your built-in card to trigger have you checked the bios to be certain it is enabled.
and go to control panel check the system device manager to see what it says about the ethernet.
does it show up under my network places and if it does is it bridged. Get properties on it.
