Question about Video Cameras

2 Answers

Sony CCD-FX310 I was just given this camcorder from my parents since they no longer use it. When I power it up, I can playback but the minute I try to record, it just shuts off like I have no battery connected to it. I tried to run it with the power supply adapter and with a good battery and still the same thing. It will only turn back on if I disconnect the battery or power supply and put it back in playback mode. I was told to replace the small coin like battery, which I did, but still the same issue. The camcorder has very little use and it would be a shame to get rid of it. If it is not a big deal to repair I would like to do so. Thanks for any help.

AS this camcorder was first produced in 1992,and has lain unused for some considerable period, the likelihood is that it has reached the end of its useable life.

SOURCE: cannot playback hi8 ccd trv107e pal

Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)

Just Clean yer Head with a cleaner cassette, get the type that does wet the dry... If that don't do it then you will need to replace the transfer belt that rotates the tape spindle as it probably isn't turning it at the right speed due to loss of its elasticity.

In playback my camcorder stops and 31:11 flashes. Any ideas?

This most likely means the taps is jammed.
You can try and get the tape to eject. To do this, remove your battery from the back of the camera. Also if your camera has another small battery under the LCD (the size if a nickel) remove it too. Wait 2 minutes. Then, plug the camera in with the power cord. Try changing the camera from playback to record mode. The tape should eject at this point. If this doesn't work, try it again but this time start in record mode and change to playback after plugging it in.
I hope this helps.

Either my computer or dvd does not read movies recorded by this camcorder. Why?

hi. in many DVD camcorders. you are suposed to closed o finalize the dvd disk . by doing this it will be playback compatible with your pc or dvd player.

NOTE
after finalizing a disk you will not able to record any longer on that disk (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RAM, DVD RW) If you record for 5 minutes and finalized the dvd it will have a 5 min movie !!!
