Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook

Harris/intersil prism driver

I require a driver for this wireless adapter, please, along with audio driver and modem driver

Unfortunately the available IBM drivers do not include the Harris/Intersil prism wireless adapter which is not a card and is integral to the motherboard build. I hope the same applies to the modem (would explain a lot). The available ac '97 audio driver download is no problem in that sys tray icon is all systems go. Volume controls are working, and the device has no problem. However, no sound. I find this question on Thinkpad drivers on many forums!!! So glad you replied, though. Any other info gratefully received! Thanks!

P.S. no go with Harris/Intersil, either!

Hey there fugmeister, the drivers you are looking, for the audio and modem driver can be downloaded from IBM. simply go to their support site and register your product # to see the drivers you can choose from. Simply download to desktop and install. The driver you need for the wireless adapter is specific to it's manufacturer. Go to their site to find it. Good Luck!

No, it does not require a driver, you can set it up a standard modem, the settings are here:

How can i connect in dsl modem with laptop?

If your laptop has no built in wifi, a USB receiver can access nearby (wireless capable) routers or router/modems. Otherwise a CAT5 cable can hardwire your computer or laptop to a DSL modem. CAT5 is a little wider than telephone connectors. Then install drivers (and make sure the modem is compatible with your providers requirements, they are not all the same.)

I need the driver for it for xp please

I found the following information on this web page (thank you lincomatic for the write-up!) and updated the information.

"...the DWL-121 - which is not listed on D-Link's website. OmniMedia's support claims that it's a special model that only works w/ OmniFi products ... (yeah, sure, I believe that...) Is it possible to use it as a WiFi adapter for a Windows XP computer? The answer is yes... with the right driver and a tiny bit of tweaking...
D-Link doesn't provide drivers for the DWL-121, and doesn't even have any information about it on their website. When you plug it into a Windows computer, it comes up as an unknown device, manufactured by Inventec. The USB Vendor ID is 09AA, and the Product ID is 3642. Since Intersil's Prism chipset is one of the most popular, I took a guess that the DWL-121 must be Prism-based.
I went hunting for drivers on D-Link's site, and found that the driver for the DWL-122 - another USB WiFi adapter - is called PRISMUSB.sys. Good candidate. After modifying the INF to look for the correct VID/PID, I got the DWL-122 driver to install and it worked! I'm actually posting this article through the DWL-121 right now! Below is the installation procedure:
  1. Download the DWL-122 driver from this page to your desktop.
  2. unzip and open the folder.
  3. Look for the file "NETPRISM.INF" and open it with Notepad.
  4. Press CTRL-H and replace all instances of the string "VID_2001&PID_3700" with "VID_09AA&PID_3642" (copy&paste!)
  5. If you're really anal, you can also replace "DWL-122" with "DWL-121," but this is entirely optional, since it only affects the name of the device as XP displays it.
  6. Save the changed INF file and close Notepad.
  7. Plug in the DWL-121 and when the Hardware Update Wizard comes up, select Install from a list or specific location.
  8. On the next screen, select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.
  9. On the next screen, click the Have Disk button, and browser to the path of the modified INF file, e.g. "C:\Documents and Settings\[yourname]\Desktop\dwl122_driver_102\Drivers" and click Next
  10. Follow the default prompts for the rest of the installation, and you're done!
If you have any more questions or something is not clear to you, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Trying to connect internet and having problems.

Hi,
You have probably not installed the drivers required for the wireless adapter. Go to Dell website and search for your model's drivers. Look for wireless adapter drivers.
Please also check that your wireless adapter is on. Some laptops have a switch on the front side of the laptop to turn the wireless on or off. On other laptops is the combination of the Fn key and one of the F1-12 keys.

Try uninstalling your pcmcia drive in device manager and then restart the laptop and let windows reinstall it. With the pci wifi card out of the slot of course. Then once the laptop is started back up and the slot is reinstalled by windows reinsert your wifi card and reload the proper driver.
Good Luck.

FUJITSU LIFEBOOK S6010 - INTERSIL PRISM PCI WIFI CARD - WPA LAN

Seems like you have a pretty old laptop. I'm guessing its got a wireless B card installed internally. And wireless B supports WEP most of the time. And if you're lucky the manufacturer of that wireless card may have an update to patch your card so that it will see WAP. Otherwise you can replace that internal card or get a usb / PCMCIA wireless card that supports at least wireless G standard.
