You don't say if the is a wheelwriter or not if it uis a wheelwriter the pitch is determined by the printwheel you have to get a different P/W.

LEXMARK MS610DN CHANGE PITCH FROM 10 T0 12

On the Wheelwriter machines, it is the printwheel that determines what pitch you are in. The wheel has holes in it that a part "reads" the holes when the machine is turned on or when the printwheel is changed. You can not manually change pitch.

How to change pitch on wheelwriter

The printwheel determines what the pitch is on the wheelwriters. A 10 pitch printwheel will only print in 10 pitch and a 12 pitch printwheel will only print in 12 pitch. Same with a 15 pitch or a PS (proportional spacing) printwheel.

I could be wrong but i believe it is code 4or 5 to change the pitch.
Go to brother.com, click on support, poke around in there and you will find a manual.

Changing pitch

The pitch is automatically selected by the printwheel (10, 12, 15 or PS)
the pitch is marked on the P/W.

10 pt printwheel printing 12 pt spacing

Some type styles do have thinner print than others. The pitch is automaticly selected when you change printwheels. You can measure the pitch by printing 12 letter "i" and putting a ruler up to it.
12 spaces per inch is elite and 10 is pica.

Change Size of Type (Pitch to 12)

The pitch is set by the ptintwheel. To change it install a P/W with a 12 pitch i.e. prestiege elite 12.

How do I change the Pitch on my typewriter?

The only way to change the pitch is to put in aprintwheel with a different pitch, the pitch is printed on the P/W case i.e. Script 12.

Hope this helps
