My Toshiba 36ZT29B

For some reason my Tv seem to cut out briefly giving me a blue screen then goes back to normal, does this about every 10 to 15 minutes. Any idea what could be causing this? I had an engineer come out and have a look but he had no idea. So please help. Thank You

T.V. SHUTS OFF - SCREEN GREEN WHEN TURNED BACK ON!!!!

is it a tv or rear-projector? does it brings out the sound?

on a tv it could be the chromatisation IC that is defectiven when it goes blank. why? because of a power surge in the electrical net the tv got too much voltage to take.

try to desoldeer the EPROM IC and power on the set. does this make the set goes normal blue screen? if YES,you can order a new EPROM IC.

succes and enjoy

There are bad capacitors in the vertical output circuit in this unit. The values of these caps are on the side of the capacitors. You may want to have a shop check it out for you. Thanks for using fixya.

If the flashing is regardless of source, the CRT could be at fault. H to K short. ( heater to cathode)

Toshiba TV turns itself off

I unscrewed the back of the CRT and vacuumed off the components (tv unplugged of course, and wait a while for capacitors to loose their charge). This seemed to fix the problem. In addition to that, it got rid of the faint red hourglass lines that I had noticed when the screen was supposed to be black.

What source are you using? If cable, you should only be able to pickup channel 3 or 4 if you're using the box. If there is no antenna, that would be the only other answer if the set checks out...accordianman

use the format button, might be called screen size. You are looking at a format that the screen cannot show completely, I can cut the top and bottom off or make it widescreen and lose the edges on my TV

All I can say is that the black box appears when the closed captions are on and set to TEXT. This is normal. Turning off the closed captions should make the black box go away. If the closed captions are somehow turning themselves back on, there may be an issue with the microprocessor in your TV.
