It seems it can be your top lcd flex that has some wear and tear. If you've been using the phone more than 1 year, its possible as you need to always open and close the top to use the PC functionality.
A service technician should be able to fix it.

The Flex is hard to get

Usually when touch screens don't work, it is due to water damage. You can bring your phone to your carrier's nearest store and ask someone that works there to check if your phone suffered water damage. They'll check the inside of your phone. If that's the case, you'll probably have to buy a new one. If you're insured this shouldnt be TOO expensive. But if you bring it to the store and it's NOT water damage (perhaps a software issue), they should replace the phone for free!
Hope this helped

Touch screen does not work when in the open position e.g. actual keyboard visible and when its closed and using the android keyboard it responds slowly and or enters incorrect keys

Hi, You need to check the flex,

FLEX

Hi,what makes the phone to display phone half of it is white with this big black dot to the side of it,
is because there is a flex inside that connected to the screen of the phone that makes the phone display
is faulty and it needs to be replaced so that the screen can be as one again.

Touch screen

The reason your phones touch screen is not working is simply because there is a problem with the flexi of the phone.

If the screen is not damaged in any way, then the assumption of it being the screen is absolutely correct.

To fix the flexi of the phone;

1. Get the appropriate screwdriver,
2. remove the battery, the battery cover, and your sim,
3. Turn the back of the phone,
4. you will see five rubbers,
5. pick them off with a pincher, you will see screws under them, unscrew the phone,
6. Get a credit card and slip it through the line around the phone then apply a little force in separating them apart,
7. you will see the panel of the phone, carefully lift it up,
8. you will see a flexi that runs through the screen to the panel, carefully detach the flexi from the panel,
9. unscrew the screen of the phone, remove the flexi connected to the screen also and replace it.
10. Reverse the process to reassemble the phone.

Take care.

Phone works for about a minute then goes black and dies

The keyboard cable is worn or broken, take it to a service center for replacement. The keyboard cable has a small magnetic switch that detects when the phone cover is open or closed. If the keyboard isn't working and the internal screen is blank, the phone detects that the cover was closed.
