Re: dvd player on lite on not working
Try to buy a Head-cleaning disk and follow the instructions that comes with it on how to clean the player. Or ask a guide to use the CD lens cleaner. After cleaning try using the drive... If not repeat cleaning process 3x If it fails then the drive needs total replacement.

Hi Vzon DVD Player,
Before you fix anything, you need to troubleshoot the problem first to know what needs fixing. Since DVD players can play different kind of media formats like Audio CD, VCD, mp3, etc, please try the following
1. Turn on the DVD player and set the program to DVD. some player needs to be setup due to multiple functionality (can play mp3 on flash drive, etc..)
2. insert different Media CD as mentioned above if your player will play them. (if they play, try to insert the DVD you want to play)
3. Try different DVD disc
4. If all the above don't work, try to clean the laser head using the standard disc cleaner.
5. retry the DVD disc
6. If the player still don't play your DVD, probable issue would be the laser head or the disc motor.
7. Please bring them to you nearest Electronic repair shop for further assessment.
The light is there to tell you that the unit has recognized the disk and is waiting you command. Just open My computer, right click on the disk icon and select play. If it says that it doesn't know how to do it it means that you need a media player capable of playing it. In that case Install VLC
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html and play the movie with it.
regarding on your problem my friend, please check if your dvd drive is reading your dvd disk? if it reads then check the software you are using to play the DVD. Try to see if your Media Player has the correct Video Codec to support your DVD that you want to play. If you player has no Codec that supports the minimum requirements of the DVD to play, you can download it in the net using www.google.com. Please click the link that leads you to google then search for the right codec that can support your DVD to play or you can download another player that has already build in almost all of the new codec and ready to use. juts click this link K-lite Codec Pack. Just click the download K-lite Codec Pack to begin your downloading process after you are in the K-lite Codec Pack Website.
Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the DVD player cannot read or play the inserted disc.
Ensure the inserted disc is compatible with the DVD player.IMPORTANT: Refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product for a list of compatible disc. Manuals are available online in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.
Use a soft cloth to clean the disc.
Examine the disc for any cracks or scratches that might be interfering with playback.
Attempt to play another disc.NOTES:
If another disc plays in the DVD player, then the previous disc is faulty.
Some recordable discs may not play correctly because of the quality of the recording, the physical condition of the disc, or the characteristics of the recording device or authoring software used.
Remove the disc from the DVD player.
Turn off the DVD player.
Unplug the power cord of the DVD player from the AC outlet.
Let the DVD player remain without power for 1 minute.
Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.
Turn on the DVD player.
Insert the disc into the DVD player.
Attempt to play the disc.
If still persists, its time for your device to get serviced.
Mine too. been getting bad for several weeks now. The gear on the motor that runs the laser carriage has probably split (I know mine has) so when the split section,(which now has more space between 2 of it's teeth than it can tolerate) comes around to the other gear, it jams up and that is likely the reason you have a flashing green light. The laser can't track correctly, if it can move at all. I hate to throw away the player for a 10 cent part, but have had NO LUCK finding the tiny gear as yet. I'm gonna open some internal dvd players that someone threw away with the rest of their computer and see if that works. Bet a lot of these will be heading for the landfill soon, as more gears give up the ghost.
