That usually has to be done from the rear to get to the mounting screws.

well once you remove the back it will become apparent because you will
see the screws. it is bulky so I would tape it down around the front
while you remove the screws so it dosent fall.

The zenith has a HOT failure but likely the associated caps in the circuit need repalced.

the apex should be easy to find by tapping on the board with a long plastic tool.

the flyback is easy to change but you need to make sure the voltage is
not set to high and that the focus is just right. ( adj on the flyback)

the JVC may be the low voltage circuit diode 14/15volt just replace it anyway.

20 years . you kinda sound like my wife thats worked 40 years at a
typewriter, terminal then computer and still can't turn on the
computer. At least you know how to surf and willing to try.

you might see about getting temp help on Craigslist.org you might be surprised who can lend a hand.

I recently moved and the movers broke the front screen of our Sony KDF46E3000 rear projection TV. Is that surface screen available for replacement? Can I do it?

Hi,
There are two layers in front screen, check both layers are damaged or not.
Part numbers are as follows:
321007211 ... PLATE (E46L), DIFFUSION (KDF-46E3000 ONLY) [front layer] price is $148
321007311 ... PLATE (E46F), DIFFUSION (KDF-46E3000 ONLY) price is $128
Available in Sony Part Store, put part number in search box, hit enter to get result.
Yes, average handy person can replace it, need to take off front screen frame by removing screws at rear sides of tv.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

I have a sony model kdf-e42a10 and I'm trying to replace my screen. However, I have removed all the screws for the top to the bottom, but can't find the bottom screws. Help please.

Remove front speaker grille block assembly as shown in below image then remove screws under that cover to take off front screen as rear screws have already been removed.
Hope this info will help you.

Where is the bulb loacated on kdf42we655

Bulb/ lamp is located under front lower panel that need to be removed. There are two thumb screws on lower corners of front screen if you see tv from rear, remove these screws and take off lower front panel, you will see lamp cover, remove it to see lamp.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual with exploded views. Click Sony Support to download free copy of user manual of KDF-42WE655 for more details.

Where can I get a replacement plactic screen cover

This set has 3 screens---the outer one is really only for glare--clear plexigalss--no longer available from Sony.

Sony 4-070-602-01
SCREEN, FRESNEL Sony 4-064-343-11
SCREEN, LENTICULAR Sony 4-058-894-11
SCREEN, PROTECTION (CONTRAST)Outer one is (Contrast) the other two inner ones are showing as available and about 180 each.

You would have to either have someone dismantle or do it yourself---most of these sets you have to remove all three screens from the rear of the set---then remove the outer contrast one if it is scratched or cracked--

If you get it out and measure it: It is possible you may be able to find a company who can cut you a plexi-glass piece to replace it with--lots of work to do this and you have to use extreme care when you remove the two inner screens--easy to damage them---Usually the inner two are taped along all the edges to keep dust etc from getting between them and the front one is a short distance forward of them.

The front protective screen is really only there for glare and to protect the inner screens from damage---I have seen people who had a cracked outer one just dismantle and remove that one---put the others back and use the set that way---have to be careful as the inner screens are easy to scratch or damage with the outer one removed.

Also---I have seen several where someone removed the outer one and got a piece of plexi glass big enough to put on the outside of the front of the set---secured all around the edges with velcro--does not look as good as the original but prevents glare and protects the inner screens.

If this told you something you did not know or helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Replacing front screeen of sony TV projection TV

Hi, assuming you have an expensive sony screen to replace allready, it is fairly hard to do because to take the top off every screw you can see from the back have to come out on top of that the optical engine and circuit boards have to be loosened or removed to get at the last two or three burried deep inside (thanks sony) if you can get that far the rest should be a breeze, just separate the cabinet replace the screen and reasemble
