Jam E - there is no jam

My printer shows on the LCD that there is a Jam at point E. There is no jam that I can see, I wonder if this means the sensor is faulty? Any ideas?

Re: Jam E - there is no jam

Paper pickup probably not working correcty. Best solution is:

1 Remove door E, It just bend the hinges and spring it out.
2. Remove the rear paper carriage unit. 4 screws, 2 obvious, 2 recessed.
3 Turn the pickup roller by hand in its normal direction of travel. Lubricate cams, pins on which paper tray slides up and down and unit on right where metal piece locks white plastic wheel once every revolution.

My printer showing paper jam n i cant find any paper stuck in the printer checked in n out?

Hello! Welcome to FixYa

Paper jam
means their may be small bit paper jam in side

There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any Brother Printers service provider.

If you have any Confusion, questions or issues regarding your problem do tell me.
Thank you for using FixYa!

Brother MFC-8860DN All-In-One Laser Printer showing document jam error

Doc jam error usually means a jam in the adf (auto doc feed) when feeding a fax or doc to copy.

The most common reason brother mfc,s of this configuration have doc feed issues is believe it or not the hinge that operates the lid/adf, specifically the left side one (looking from the front). Inside the hinge there are two springs exerting tremendous force on the hinge (that enables the lid to stay up by itself) however this force eventually slowly breaks the fulcrum point of the hinge which leads to the lid not closing properly which means a sensor under the lid does not activate properly resulting in the adf stopping and resulting in the machine registering a jam. the difference between the sensor activating or not can be as little as a millimeter and is not often disernable. the hinge needs replacing by a techo.

the other reason could be you just have dirty adf feed rollers, clean them with a cotton rag dipped in metho, open the adf lid and give the rollers a scrub. the rollers should have 'tread' on them similar to a tyre, if not they are worn and need replacing.

One other possibility is there may be a paper fragment left over from a jam removal still caught in the paper path and activating a sensor activator that tells the machine paper is coming or going. most commonly in the section where the paper is looping on its return journey back out of the adf, open the adf lid, have a look with a torch and see how you go.

Regards, Andrew.

I get the E 3 error message which I understand means paper jam. There is no paper jammed in the printer. I unplugged it and replugged it and it sill shows the E 3 message.

E3 error mean if printer has jammed in the machine.Clear paper jam,or paper feed sensor was displaced.clear or check paper sensor then solve your problem.

My HP P2015 reports a Jam when there isn't one

Take the Tray 2 out and check if all the paper guides are moving freely if they are than remove the toner cartridge and check if any toner sensor is not align correctly.
If they are aligned correctly than next to the pickup roller there is a small piece of plastic make sure it should be hanging freely if it is than we need to perform cold reset of the printer.
Switch off the printer press and hold down the go button and switch the printer on keep holding down go button till the time three lights lit up on control panel, as soon as three lights lits up release the go button and let the printer initialise of it s own.
If that doesn't fix than Formatter Board of the printer is faulty.
If there is no paper jam and printer rep[orts the jam means either any of the sensors is not aligned correctly and reporting the jam or formatter Board(Motherboard) of the printer is faulty and showing incorrect display.

Thanks and Regards

Paper jam

if you cleared the paper jam an your printer still shows this paper jam, you may try this:
1. after you clear the paper jam, turn off an on the printer.
2. if above advice is not working you may try to look more carefully (with a flashlight maybe) if a small piece of paper is not blocking the paper jam sensor.
3. unfortunately this is a job for a qualify serviceman.
4. in less then 2-3 % of cases is a defective sensor, and must be replace by a serviceman.

Paper jams are sensed via 'flags' that protrude from slots in the paper path or optical means that check for reflection of some light source to a receiver and, time.

If paper passed a specific check point but fails to reach a second one within a time 'window,' there is a 'paper jam' regardless of whether there is or not.

A flag that has been pushed through the slot and can not rise again or a blocked LED or its companion photocell/transistor, can give a permanent 'paper jam' in error.

If you have ever printed any labels with the unit, you could have some fouling from them that has caused the problem.
It's probably not an electronic problem since the mechanical side is the real weak point.

Gaining access to all parts of the paper path to check for sensor condition could be difficult.

202 pam jam

usually it means that a sensor in your fuser is bad. If you have a P.M. Kit replaced the fuser and clean the printer.

but before you do, make sure that you have cleared all jams, including in the fuser.

Its probably time for a Preventive Maintanence
