This is a simple fix and not hard to do, first you must get the speaker grill off, usaly two screws on the bottom and they might be hidden under to caps, then remove the acsess cover from the front. From there you should see a control box with six controls, three on top of three,,,,One part label "screen" the other "focus" now turn the set on and tune to a input that HAS NO SIGNAL this should give you a black pix, probley not now but it's supose to be black. Now turn the ones marked screen , one at a time counter clockwise just a little to get the pix compleatly black, now starting with one color turn the control slowly clockwise till the color just appears then turn it back down till it just disapears (Black) do this for all three colors Now the set should runn

Recently changed my bulb for my Wega LCD KF-42SX300U TV. Since then it is turning itself off, with no particular pattern. It can come straight on and last for a few seconds, or last the entire evening....

Hello,
This is a classic case of a faulty lamp(even though it is new). Possible that it is a ballast(lamp power sply) problem but it is more likely that the lamp doesnt quite meet the required specifications. Your lamp may be a Non-OEM or a refurb. You should try to get it exchanged with the vendor you bought it from.
justlamps.com is a great source for bulbs.
good luck

I PUT MY SONY GRAND WEGA KF-42SX300U 50 in. lcd

Well we need to have in mind that a generic lamp will give you 3500 to 4500 lamp hours and the Phillips will give you 6000 to 8000 lamp hours ,The lamp itself typically uses AC current and about 15,000 volts to ignite the lamp's mercury2.gif vapor gas. The gases inside the lamp react when electricity charges up the mercury gas creating very bright light. The voltage drops to keep the flow of electricity to the lamp.
The symptom of a bad ballast is that you could hear a constant CLICKING or electrical BUZZING sound,my recomendation is to take out the lamp to physically check for any sings,(shatter fillement, black or grey spots in the fillement or smoke ) you can get good deals at http://www.discount-merchant.com/?click=52978

KF-42WE610

This sounds like an issue with the optical block assembly. Sony had a problem with this part in a lot of the KF-series television.

They extended the warranty of optical blocks in the KF-42WE620, which doesn't help you but from what your saying this sounds like the issue.
